The Calgary Zoo is home to more than 1000 animals and 275 species.
Our animal collection is always changing. Many animals are endangered and are part of the Species Survival Plan--a co-operative population management program focused on maintaining healthy and genetically diverse captive populations. Join Zoo naturalists for entertaining programs full of animal information. As front line conservation communicators, interpreters spread the message about the valuable work being done by the Zoo's conservation research and conservation outreach teams. Every summer, over 300,000 visitors take part in the Zoo's Nature Tales programs.
