The airport offers a complimentary pick up service. Black and white taxis are also available from the airport to central Cairo. They leave from outside the Arrivals hall. A taxi to the hotel costs approximately 5 USD. Buses are available from the airport to central Cairo. An airport bus service operates from Terminal 1 (Old Airport). Bus service 400 leaves approximately every 30 minutes during the day and every hour at night. A good way to explore Cairo is via the new Metro system, which is inexpensive and not too crowded. However, buses and minibuses are still the most common form of transport; taxis are a better option for visitors. Boats depart frequently for University, a landing over on the Giza side of the river.
