Location. Hotel Amba is located in the centre of Munich, Germany, within two kilometres of the historic old town and four kilometres from the Deutsches Museum. The city's main station, Hauptbahnhof, is situated 100 metres from the hotel.
Hotel Features. Hotel Amba is housed in a modern six storey property accessible by elevator, which opens to a bright, Mediterranean style lobby area, decorated with wicker furniture. Guests can start the day with a buffet breakfast (surcharge), and surf the web with wireless Internet access. Excursions and sightseeing tours can be organised by the hotel. Garage parking is available onsite (surcharge).

The Hotel Amba houses a conference room.

Guestrooms. The 86 guestrooms are decorated in a simple, modern style with wood furnishings. All include satellite television with pay movies, direct dial phones, wireless Internet, and desks. Bathrooms are fitted with hair dryers.

Expert Tip. Castle Nymphenburg, located ten kilometres from the hotel, is the former summer residence of the Bavarian rulers. The castle is a stunning example of Baroque architecture with highlights including the banqueting hall with its ceiling frescoes, the Gallery of Beauties, commissioned by Ludwig I, and the 200 acre park dotted with numerous pavilions.

Distance to the Hotel Amba is 35 kilometres, approximately 45 minutes' drive.

Getting there. The airport's train station is located between the two terminals on the basement level. The S8 and S1 S Bahn trains leave every 20 minutes for Munich's main train station (Hauptbahnhof), located 100 metres from the hotel. Journey time is about 45 minutes, and single tickets cost 8.80 EUR. Tickets must be validated prior to travelling. The Lufthansa Airport bus runs to the Hauptbahnhof every 20 minutes, and the single fare is 9.50 EUR. Taxis to the hotel cost around 55 65 EUR. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. Much of Munich's city centre is pedestrianised and best explored on foot. The city's integrated public transport system includes buses, trams, S Bahn commuter trains, and U Bahn underground trains. Tickets cover all modes of public transport. Taxis wait at ranks around the city, but can be expensive. Trains run from the Hauptbahnhof to other German towns and the Bavarian countryside.
