Villa Borghese

The oldest part of Villa Borghese, a modest vineyard, was owned by the Borghese since 1580, but at the beginning of the 1600's Cardinal Scipione Caffarelli Borghese, Paul V's favourite nephew, began purchasing the surrounding lands intent on creating a "villa di delizie", symbol of the family's social status.
