Location. The Hotel Caravel is located in Rome, Italy, one kilometre from the catacombs, and three kilometres from the Coliseum. Garbatella metro station is 900 metres from the hotel.

Expert Tip. Communal burial grounds, the catacombs are underground tunnels carved out of soft tufa rock. The most famous and largest are the catacombs of San Callisto, with a crypt containing the tombs of seven popes martyred in the 3rd century.

    From Rome Ciampino Airport (CIA):
    Distance to Hotel Caravel is 15 kilometres, approximately 20 minutes' drive.

    Getting there. A shuttle bus runs from the airport to Termini train station. Take bus 714, and alight at Colombo/Circoncallazione Ostiense bus stop. Hotel Caravel is 100 metres away. Licensed white taxis cost around 30 EUR to the Hotel Caravel.

    Getting around. Rome's historic city centre is easy to explore on foot, as many attractions are located close together. The city has an efficient public transport system, including trams, buses, suburban trains, and metro (underground). Tickets can be purchased from tobacconists and ATAC ticket machines, and should be bought prior to boarding. Single tickets cost 1 EUR, and are valid for 75 minutes, covering one metro trip and unlimited bus travel. Driving in the city centre is not advised for visitors.
