Location. The Belle Epoque inspired St. Regis Grand Hotel in Rome, Italy, is two blocks from the tree lined Via Veneto and two kilometres from the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.
Hotel Features. One of Travel + Leisure's 500 Greatest Hotels in the World (2004), The St. Regis Grand Hotel was opened in 1894 by Cesar Ritz. The high ceilinged lobby features frescoes, red velvet throne chairs and a white marble reception. The hotel offers personal shoppers and a 24 hour butler service.

The St. Regis Grand Hotel's Vivendo restaurant serves Mediterannean dishes like foie gras and bass carpaccio with balsamic vinegar. The restaurant features silver chairs and grey and purple silk wall hangings. Speciality cocktails are mixed in Le Grand Bar, which has red velvet seating, a marble bar and Wednesday night jazz. Afternoon tea is served in the Grand Hall, featuring an original 1894 chandelier and Louis XIV furnishings.

The St Regis Grand Hotel has 15 flexible meeting rooms, staffed business centre and wireless Internet access.

A wrought iron lift, one of Rome's oldest working lifts, takes guests to the fifth floor Caroli Health Club which includes a gym, Pilates room, saunas and massage rooms.

Guestrooms. The St. Regis Grand Hotel's 161 climate controlled guestrooms are furnished with antiques, red and gold fabrics and chandeliers. All are named after Rome attractions, which are depicted in frescoes. Rooms feature soundproofing, minibars, satellite television and high speed Internet connections (surcharge). In room massages are available. Italian marble bathrooms offer Hermes toiletries, bathrobes and a separate bathtub and shower.

Expert Tip. The Vivendo restaurant, in Rome's St. Regis Grand Hotel, features a vaulted wine cellar which is available for private hire. The collection includes 520 wines, including 40 specially commissioned bottles.

    One king, queen or twin bed. Decor in rich tones of red, typically of Roman décor, and subtle shades of gold and beige. Opulent Italian and unique accessories, including intricate cushions and carpets, designed exclusively for the hotel. Architectural details include stucco and Italian marbles.

  • Imperial Guest Room

    One king bed or two twin beds. Larger than other guestrooms. Warm tones, opulent furniture, and marble bathroom. Open, airy atmosphere. Bathroom with two sinks, and separate bathtub and shower.

  • Junior Suite

    One king, queen or twin bed. Separate sitting room, large walk-in closet. The furniture is a combination of Empire, Regency and Louis XV and the sitting room and bedroom feature separate painted doors. Most of the bathrooms have two sinks with a separate bathtub and shower.

  • Superior room

    One king, queen or two twin beds (many of them antiques acquired from state residences). Damask, silks and plush carpets. Decor with with rich blue, red and gold hues. Furnishings include wooden inlaid furniture and a plush velvet armchair.

From Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO):
Distance to St. Regis Grand Hotel is 26 kilometres, approximately 45 minutes' drive.

Getting there. The Leonardo Express runs between the airport and the Termini train station in the city centre every 30 minutes. The journey time is about 35 minutes and single tickets cost 9.50 EUR. The Terravision shuttle bus runs between the airport and Termini station. Guests can take a taxi to the hotel or the metro to Repubblica station. Airport taxis to the city centre cost about 60 EUR, and taking a metered licensed taxi is advised. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. The St. Regis Grand Hotel is located on Via Vittorio Emanuele Orlando, two blocks from Via Veneto. Rome's historic city centre is easy to explore on foot, as many attractions are located close together. The city has an efficient public transport system, including trams, buses, suburban trains, and metro (underground). Tickets can be purchased from tobacconists and ATAC ticket machines, and should be bought prior to boarding. Single tickets cost 1 EUR, and are valid for 75 minutes, covering one metro trip and unlimited bus travel. Driving in the city centre is not advised for visitors. Parking is available at the hotel (surcharge).
