San Clemente Palace Hotel & Resort

Location. The San Clemente Palace occupies a restored 17th century three story monastery on a private island, 15 minutes by shuttle boat from Piazza San Marco. The 200 guestrooms are defined by four meter ceilings, arched windows providing views of the gardens, terrazzo floors with rugs, reading chairs and cocktail tables. Furnishings and colors vary according to four Venetian themed decor schemes: the Doges, the Merchants, the Nobles and the Navigators. Rooms come with satellite television, minibars and complimentary newspapers. Beige, marble bathrooms include separate tubs and showers, bathrobes, slippers, Etro toiletries and a music system.
Hotel Features. The San Clemente Palace occupies a monastic building dating back to 1859, set in four acres of centuries old gardens. Abandoned in the 1980s, the monastery was converted to a hotel and opened in 2003. Ca' dei Frati is a fine dining restaurant with wood beamed ceiling, terra cotta tiled floors and lagoon and island views. Specializing in Venetian food, Le Maschere is open for lunch and dinner in winter, and dinner in summer. It offers outdoor seating. A buffet breakfast is served in the Gli Arazzi Ristorante, while La Laguna is an outdoor dining area serving grilled food in summer, and pub style fare is served in Gli Specchi. The on site spa center offers aromatherapy, body treatments, facials, massage and hair and nail care. It includes a steam room, sauna, two spa tubs and fitness equipment. During warm weather, guests can unwind by the outdoor pool and enjoy drinks from the poolside bar. Guests can make use of two tennis courts and a pitch and putt golf course on site. A complimentary shuttle boat runs to and from Piazza San Marco, 24 hours a day. A 15 minute water taxi ride away stands the Lido, the slender island that is the city's playground, offering beaches, water sports, golf and horseback rides. Wireless Internet acces is available throughout the hotel for a surcharge. Hotel allows small pets only.
