The Avenue Hotel is housed within historic buildings in central Amsterdam within one kilometre of both Dam Square and the famous Central Station. The 80 guestrooms are decorated in warm tones and all include satellite television, direct dial phones and hair dryers.
Guests can find postcards and souvenirs at the gift shop and stay in touch with friends and family using Internet connections in the lobby. Staff at the 24 hour front desk can advise on local sightseeing opportunities and assist with restaurant bookings. The hotel has a street facing cafe bar or guests can watch television while sipping on coffees in the lobby area. Practical amenities include a safe deposit box, laundry facilities and nearby parking spaces. The 17th century flower market is 300 metres from the hotel while well known museums such as the Van Gogh Museum and Anne Frank House are slightly further away at five and 6.5 kilometres respectively. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is 20 kilometres away with an approximate driving time of 30 minutes.

A tram runs from the airport to Central Station which is approximately 500 metres from the hotel. From there take tram number 1, 2 or 5 and get off at the second stop. The hotel is on the left. Alternatively, a taxi to the hotel will cost approximately 40 EUR. Much of Amsterdam can be explored on foot although trams run throughout the city. Bicycles are also a good way to see the city, and there is an extensive network of cycle lanes.
