Praslin is the second largest island of the Seychelles, lying north east of Mahé. It is named for the French Duc de Praslin and has a population of around 5,000 people.
The island is known for its beaches, for its endemic black parrot, and for the Vallée de Mai, home to coco de mer. The main settlements are the Baie Ste Anne port, Anse Volbert and Grand Anse.
Praslin is home to Praslin Island Airport, while surrounding islands include Curieuse Island, La Digue, Cousin Island, Cousine Island and Aride Island.
