Before the university schools and faculties which line this stretch of the Avinguda Diagonal existed, a palace had been built in 1924 as a residente for the then king, Alfonso XIII.

The palace houses two interesting and unusual museums: the Museu de les Arts Decoratives and the Museu de Ceràmica, which features exhibits ranging from ancient Arab ceramics to pieces by Picasso and Miró. lf you're a fan of royal weddings, you should know that in 1997 the palace was the setting for the wedding banquet of the Infanta Cristina, daughter of King Juan Carlos.
