Orient-ExpressLocation. The palatial Hotel Ritz Madrid is located in the centre of historic Madrid, Spain, opposite the renowned Prado Museum, between La Lealtad Square's magnolia trees and Neptune's Fountain. The Thyssen Bornemisza Museum, stock exchange and popular Retiro Park are within 300 metres.
Hotel Features. Built in 1910 by King Alfonso Xlll as a grand luxury hotel to match Europe's finest, the Hotel Ritz Madrid occupies a six storey building with French windows and balconies. The large marble floored lobby has pillars, high ceilings, chandeliers and handmade carpets.

A piano player accompanies afternoon tea and scones in the lobby lounge and bar. Goya Restaurant has chandeliers, fabric covered walls and high draped curtains and serves international and Spanish dishes. Guests and locals can drink and dine in the Ritz Terrace and Gardens during spring and summer. The bimonthly Ritz Gastronomic Weeks present Spanish regional cuisine in association with famous restaurateurs. Cocktails and snacks are on the menu in the intimate wood panelled Velazquez Bar.

The Hotel Ritz Madrid's five meeting rooms hold up to 500 people. The business centre offers high speed Internet access (surcharge). Wireless Internet access (surcharge) and onsite parking are available at the hotel.

The hotel has saunas and a fitness centre. Massages and beauty treatments like algae based facials and manicures are available (surcharge). Previous clients at the hair salon and barber include the Spanish royal family.

Guestrooms. The hotel's air conditioned guestrooms are individually designed, with antique furniture, handmade carpets and fresh flowers. All rooms have high speed Internet access (surcharge), satellite television, minibars and safes. Marble bathrooms have bathrobes, slippers and designer toiletries.

    One king bed or one queen bed or two twin beds. All rooms have external views. Fresh flowers, orchids or roses, scent the room. All are double-glazed. Non-smoking rooms are available. Each room has its own unique decoration, with color tones picked out from the hand-made, patterned carpet. Much of the furniture dates back to the 1910 opening, including the ample fitted wardrobes, which reflect an age when vacationers did not travel light. All rooms have a desk and chair, comfortable armchair and table, and Internet access. In the marble bathrooms, the baths are fitted with a handrail and designer toiletries. Towels hang on radiators, bathrobes and slippers are supplied.

    One king or two twin beds. 32 square metres. All rooms have views over The Prado Museum or the Garden. Fresh flowers, orchids or roses, scent the room. All are double-glazed. Non-smoking rooms are available. Each room has its own unique decoration, with color tones picked out from the hand-made, patterned carpet. Despite being recently-renovated, much of the furniture dates back to the 1910 opening, including the ample fitted wardrobes, which reflect an age when vacationers did not travel light. All rooms have a desk and chair, comfortable armchair and table, cable television, and wireless Internet access. Embroidered bed linen. In the white marble bathrooms, the baths are fitted with a handrail and designer toiletries, whilst there are also separate shower units. Towels hang on radiators, bathrobes and slippers are supplied.

From Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD):
Distance to the Hotel Ritz Madrid is 15 kilometres, approximately 25 minutes' drive.

Getting there. A regular underground metro service runs from the airport to central Madrid. The station is located in terminal 2 and is on line 8 (pink). The single fare is 1.75 EUR. An airport bus runs to central Madrid's Plaza de Colon terminal. The bus departs every 10 minutes and tickets cost 2.40 EUR. Taxis into the city centre cost about 30 EUR, including an airport surcharge.

Getting around. The Hotel Ritz Madrid is located opposite the Prado Museum, 300 metres from Retiro Park. The squares and narrow streets in central Madrid are best explored by foot. An extensive public bus and metro system offers a cheap and efficient way to get around the city. Single tickets can be bought from bus drivers or machines. A 10 trip Metrobus ticket, costing 6.40 EUR, is ideal for those making multiple journeys. Taxis can be hailed on the street and are reasonably priced. Onsite parking is available at the Hotel Ritz Madrid.
