Mondrian, A Morgans Hotel

Location. An urban resort located in Old Town Scottsdale, Ariz., the Mondrian Scottsdale is secluded behind pristine white walls and a veil of blooming flora.
Hotel Features. The Mondrian Scottsdale reflects designer Benjamin Noriega Ortiz' interpretation of the Garden of Eden. The lobby unfolds as a retelling of the story of Adam and Eve, with one half of the interior devoted to lofty aspirations, while the reception area alludes to life's temptations. Fluffy white clouds hover overhead while a white serpentine banquette crosses the length of the pale wood floor, ending at the base of the lobby's white baobab tree sculpture. The Skybar is draped in black gauze and is furnished with black wing chairs, while an oversized bed is positioned for stargazing. Lamps are decorated with black feathers, many of which are contributed by guests. Red Bar temptations are represented by a huge apple. Less than angelic cherubs grace scarlet hued walls. The cherubs are depicted clutching cell phones and iPods. Pleasures await at Agua Bathhouse spa that contains tranquil massage and beauty treatment rooms. The fitness center is open 24 hours and houses free weights, yoga balls, weight training equipment and cardiovascular equipment mounted with flat screen monitors. The property includes a serenity pool with a waterfall.

Guestrooms. This three story resort offers 194 guestrooms that extend onto narrow step out balconies. Rooms feature black and white décor. A halo of light surrounds the beds' headboards, while a single red apple is bathed in crimson light. Black platforms support European pillowtop mattresses draped beneath white 300 thread count sheets. Rooms include clocks that project the time onto the ceiling. High speed wired and wireless Internet access is available for a fee. Accommodations are equipped with flat screen televisions, CD players and iPod connections.

Expert Tip. Asia de Cuba, the resort's main restaurant, hosts Havana Tuesdays. Live international Latin bands play until mid evening after which the party moves to the Skybar where festivities continue into the wee hours.
