Arkansas State Capitol

A striking Neoclassical building in downtown Little Rock, the capitol was completed in 1915 and modeled after the United States Capitol.

It has two long wings extending from a center rotunda and a classical portico across the long facade. The exterior is constructed of Batesville, Arkansas limestone and the interior features Vermont, Alabama and Colorado marble. The six solid bronze doors, purchased from Tiffany's of New York at a cost of $10,000, are now estimated to be worth more than $250,000. The Governor's Reception Room and Old Supreme Court Chambers have been renovated and the front of the building and landscape has been restored to the original plans. Guided tours are available.
