The Hotel Shangri La Santa Monica is located on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica, Calif. Third Street Promenade is one block from the hotel. Hotel Features. Built in 1939, the Hotel Shangri La Santa Monica's recent redesign invigorates its aesthetics of the past. In keeping with the Art Deco style, the hotel's all white façade is complemented by floor to ceiling windows, curved corners and metal linings. The Shangri La Santa Monica restaurant serves gourmet cuisine while overlooking the pool and courtyard. The hotel includes a rooftop bar and lounge and a sidewalk café. The outdoor, rooftop pool is joined by lounge chairs, umbrellas and cabanas, and an exercise and yoga deck. Spa services are offered in the courtyard.
