The hotel is positioned two blocks from the luxury shops on maiden lane, five blocks from chinatown and six blocks from nob hill. Transportation by cable car is available one block from the property.

guestrooms. designed by sylvia chiang, the 110 guestrooms and nine suites boast honey-maple finish furniture, leather-accented desks, handblown-glass bedside lamps and décor in tones of white, tan and cinnamon. Bedding includes mascioni egyptian cotton linens, down duvets and throws. Limestone bathrooms offer moulton brown toiletries, slippers, soaking tubs, pearwood paneling and silver-stenciled maplewood armoires. Each room includes bose surround-sound audio systems, cd players, cable television and high-speed internet access. Pets are permitted for a fee.

expert tip. approximately one mile from the hotel is an otherworldly theater of sound, the audium. The audience is shrouded in darkness as a composition of "found sounds" travels about the room's 169 speakers. The effect is surreal, disorienting and mesmerizing.
