The Sheridan Opera House was built by the Telluride miners in 1913 as a Vaudeville Theater and cultural center, attracting variety shows, orchestras and touring theater companies.
Performers from Lillian Gish and Sarah Bernhardt have graced the stage. In 1991 Sandra Carradine, founder of the Sheridan Arts Foundation, saved the opera house from demolition. Today this 240 seat intimate theater has become a non-profit venue benefiting many charitable organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of America.
