Additional Disney's Animal Kingdom® Information

Remember to bring your camera, but don't worry: If you forget, cameras, film and batteries are always available for purchase in the Park. Be sure to bring water and sun screen. Having a poncho, umbrella or light raincoat might be a good idea, too. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. Remember to drink plenty of liquids during your visit. For an insiders look at Disney's Animal Kingdom®, check out the "Wild By Design" and "Backstage Safari" tours.

Adults with youngsters too small to ride may take turns riding an attraction. There is no need to wait in line twice. Ask a Cast Member for details. Be sure to keep your ticket and have your hand stamped upon exiting the Park if you wish to return later the same day. Check the Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park Times Guide for show times and Park hours. Check the tip board on Discovery Island® throughout the day for the current wait times for the most popular attractions at the Park. Don't forget to bring your autograph book to Camp Minnie-Mickey where you can find your favorite characters.

For a full-service meal, make priority seating arrangements when you arrive at the Park at either Guest Relations or the desired eatery. Or make advance plans by calling 407-WDW-DINE (939-3463).Island Mercantile on Discovery Island® stays open a half hour after the Park closes.Look for the Disney photographer at the entrance to the Park to get that magical memory of your day at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. Many Disney Cast Members are fluent in more than one language. The flags on their nametags indicate which languages they speak. Measure your child's height before you arrive at the Park so you know which attractions he or she is able to ride. All height requirements are listed on this Web site.

Special "behind the scenes" tours are available at the Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot® and Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. Just call 407-WDW-TOURfor reservations and details. If your party decides to split up, remember to set a meeting place and time. But try not to pick any place too trafficked, like in front of the Tree of Life, or it may be difficult to find your party. Study a map of the Park prior to your arrival to become familiar with the location of the attractions that interest you most. Ten artists and three Imagineers worked full-time for 18 months to create the 325 animal carvings on The Tree of Life. Sculptors had between six and 10 hours to create the finished image before the plaster hardened. Covering over 500 acres, Disney's Animal Kingdom® is the largest Disney theme park anywhere.

There are 850 species of trees, 2,000 species of shrubs, and 260 different types of grasses growing in Disney's Animal Kingdom®. About 110 of these tree and shrub species have never been grown in North America before. Walt Disney's love of animals began when he was four years old and his family moved from his Chicago birthplace to a 45-acre farm in Marceline, Missouri, where he helped take care of farm animals and learned to draw pictures of his animal friends. The largest tree replanted in the Park is located in Harambe village, and tipped the scales at 90 tons . . . that's equal to the weight of 16 male elephants. Cooler weather means more fun! As the heat fades, the animals come out to play on the savanna. This exciting expedition for the entire family puts adventurers face-to-face with real giraffes, hippos, elephants, rhinos, lions and poachers too! You can catch the animals on the prowl at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. It's guaranteed to be a different show every time you venture into the wild!

More than 4 million trees, plants, shrubs, ground-covers, vines, epiphytes and grasses from every continent on Earth -- except Antarctica -- were planted at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Park. There is one ATM at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park located at the entrance to the Park, just before the turnstiles and to the right, next to the kennel. With so much to see and do at the Walt Disney World® Resort, we encourage you to wear casual clothes and comfortable shoes. Take advantage of Disney's FASTPASS® Service. Simply slip your Park Pass into the FASTPASS machine to receive an assigned return time and enjoy the rest of the park while Disney's FASTPASS saves your place in line.
