Located along the Augusta Canal, only a tall chimney remains of the powderworks factory that operated between 1862-1865.
This factory was the only structure authorized and built by the Confederacy. Today the nearby buildings are textile factories, built on the powderworks site about a decade after the Civil War and still in operation today.
