Opened in 1995, it honors Van Meter's native son who set major league records while a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians from 1936 to 1956 and is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Although he lives in retirement near Cleveland, Feller has an active interest in the museum and has donated much that's displayed there. He travels to Van Meter, Iowa several times each year to meet visitors and sign autographs as a fundraising activity for the museum.
