On a rise in the center of Carroll Park in southwest Baltimore stands Maryland's first museum house and one of the oldest and finest examples of colonial Georgian architecture in the city.
Mount Clare today gives the visitor a glimpse into the past. It is owned by the City of Baltimore, Department of Recreation and Parks, but furnished and operated by The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Maryland. Since 1917 the Colonial Dames have been custodians of this mansion and have conducted educational tours for individuals and groups.
