The Arctic Ring of Life, takes visitors on a trek to the North Pole. Guests experience the tundra, open sea and pack ice of the Arctic environment, and the animals that are distinctively adapted to life there.
This state-of-the-art, $14.9 million, interactive facility encompasses over four acres of outdoor and indoor exhibits. In addition to showing a variety of fauna and flora, the exhibit explores the relationship between Arctic people (Inuit) and wildlife. Amphibiville is a village dedicated to and inhabited by amphibians from around the world, a unique environment for the celebration of this often-overlooked group of animals. Amphibiville includes a 2-acre wetland teeming with bullfrogs and other wildlife, and it is home of the National Amphibian Conservation Center (NACC).
Come and experience the country's first zoo-based virtual reality voyage,the Wild Adventure Simulator, located inside the new Ford Education Center at the Detroit Zoo! The simulator is an educational, action-packed thrill ride which offers a unique 'You Are There' experience from the comfort of a specially equipped, motion simulated, big screen theater seat! The simulator holds 30 passengers at a time, and can expedite small or large groups efficiently. The Wildlife Interpretive Gallery is a multidisciplinary, 10,000 square foot facility designed to interpret wildlife using theater, video, multi-media computers, interactive displays, art and nature. Nothing like it exists in other zoos - and it is designed to help visitors experience, understand, enjoy and celebrate wildlife.
