On May 1st, 1931 a famous part of New York's Skyline opened reaching more than a qtr mile to the sky.
The panoramic observatory is over 1,000 feet above the streets. Once called the "Empty State Building", due to poor occupancy during the Great Depression, this building has no such troubles today.
