This neighborhood has morphed several times. It was once a residential area until; the residents moved uptown. It then became home to sweat shops ("hell's hundred acres.") and industry for several decades.
During the 1960's artists moved into the spaceous buildings that afforder space for their studios. Today it is home to artisans as well as yuppies.
