Wing Haven Gardens and Bird Sanctuary 4 Star

Wing Haven Gardens and Bird Sanctuary

Wing Haven has been a special part of Charlotte since its creation by Elizabeth and Edwin Clarkson in 1927. Three acres of lovely vistas, formal gardens and controlled wilderness are open to all who wander its paths. The gardens and bird sanctuary, enclosed on all sides by brick walls, encompass three acres in the heart of a quiet residential neighborhood.

The formal garden areas are designed so that visitors may stroll along brick paths and enjoy the many lovely vistas, as well as beautiful trees, flowers and shrubs. Beyond the formal gardens are wooded areas filled with ferns and wild flowers. Throughout the gardens, emphasis is on plantings for bird attraction - providing cover, nesting sites and food. Many pools, re-circulating fountains and dripping bird baths, delight visitors and birds alike. Integrated into the garden walls and paths are plaques and statuary which provide interest and reflect the gentle spirit and beauty of Wing Haven and its creators.
