Ko Olina, Hawai‘i
Visitors to O‘ahu arrive in Honolulu, the vibrant capital and largest city in the state of Hawai‘i at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL). AULANI, A Disney Resort & Spa is about 20 miles (32 km) away on the west side of leeward, sunnier side of O‘ahu. The area of Ko Olina spans 642 acres, with the beachfront areas now home to sustainable resort communities. Aulani Resort sits on 21 acres, built into a horseshoe around a beautiful lagoon.
Visitors can arrange an airport shuttle for an extra charge or rent a car to make the short hop over to the resort. We recommend the shuttle if you plan to spend all or most of your time on O‘ahu on the resort grounds. A rental car is a better option for frogs excited to hop all over the island to see the surfer’s paradise of North Shore, the bustling city of Honolulu and the tropical rainforests, mountains and valleys found in the inner reaches of O‘ahu. (And Undercover Tourist offers hoppin’ rates on rental cars!)

Things to Consider When Planning
When You Visit
There is no bad time to visit AULANI, but O‘ahu is known for having two main seasons. Winter (November through March) temperatures average 76-79 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and drop 10-15 degrees at night. Summer (April through October) temperatures average 78-85 degrees and are slightly cooler in the evening. The ocean water is about 10 degrees colder at 74 degrees and rain is more common in the winter months.
Peak season for AULANI and the islands of Hawa‘i is mid-December through mid-April. If you’re looking for lower rates and less crowds, we recommend visiting sometimes between mid-April and mid-June, or sometime between the start of September and early December.
Room View
Rooms, Suites and Villas at AULANI are priced based on the view; each offers a private patio or balcony. If you’d like to enjoy your morning coffee or tea while gazing out at the ocean or mountains, you will be paying a little more for that picturesque view. If you don’t mind staying in a room with a less expansive view, or simply don’t plan on being in the room often, booking a standard view room is a perfect option at a lower price point.
Group Size
Some rooms will better cater to a larger group. If your party has more than four, you may want to consider a larger suite or villa instead if you’d still like to stay together. You may also request adjacent rooms if you’re comfortable splitting up the group for more private space.
Budget and Length of Stay
AULANI is a frogtastic option for families vacationing in Hawai‘i, with over 30 complimentary activities and included amenities. The resort is packed with Disney magic, including rich, cultural activities and relaxing services, but several of the premium options come at an additional cost. If you’re on a tight budget or timetable, you will want to plan ahead so you can partake in particular excursions and activities.
