Parks News: AT&T Is Boosting Service at Disney World; 'Walking Dead' Returns to Halloween Horror Nights

It's time for the Frog Family's weekly roundup of Disney and Orlando theme park tidbits from the interwebs.

We love comments! Drop us a line below if you have something to share.

This week’s highlights:

  • castle9Those of you with AT&T service will be happy to hear that it has become the official wireless provider for the Walt Disney World Resort. The upshot will be better service for those with AT&T, including increased wireless capacity and network connectivity, and better mobile performance. While there's no word on when the boost in service will take effect, we hope it's before the launch MyMagic+ and FASTPASS+ by the end of the year.

  • Disney celebrated Christmas in July all this week, so it was fitting that it give us a peek at the coming holiday-themed merchandise, including a limited-edition "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" ear hat ornament set.

  • It was Christmas in July over here at the Frog Pond as well, with Mommy Frog dolling out a few special Mickey treats to Leap and Lily and reminiscing about our stay at Disney's Wilderness Lodge back in December. It's not too late to share how you keep the magic going when you're not Disney World.
  • Speaking of Christmas, those of you taking a trip to the Disneyland Resort starting Nov. 15 will have the chance to see a holiday-themed "World of Color." Olaf the snowman from the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures animated film “Frozen” will serve as narrator for the amazing water, color and light show at Disney California Adventure.

  • Saving Mr. BanksIn other movie news, the official poster was released for "Saving Mr. Banks." The film, starring Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson, will tell the backstory of how Disney’s “Mary Poppins” made it to the big screen.
  • “The Walking Dead” will be returning as one of the themed houses at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando.

  • A rescued Georgia sea turtle that had refused attempts to be returned to the wild is headed to a new home at SeaWorld Orlando.
  • Baby giraffeIn other wildlife news, Disney is seeking your help in naming a Masai giraffe calf that is soon to head to the Kilimanjaro Safaris savanna. Too cute!
  • Think you have the ultimate touring plan? Ha! Two friends set off on a quest to hit all Disney World rides in one day and have shared their adventure, including a video documentary of their experience. The question is, did they succeed? You'll have to read to find out.

That’s all for this week. Until next week, happy planning!
