About the Boston Celtics
Having won 17 NBA championships, the Boston Celtics are one of the most successful franchises in the league. As of 2023, the Celtics are tied with the Los Angeles Lakers, one of their biggest rivals, for NBA Championships. The Celtics have other rivalries within the Eastern Conference, such as the Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat. Those games can get particularly exciting! Legendary Celtics players include Bill Russell, Larry Byrd and Kevin Garnett.
The name "Celtics" and the team mascot "Lucky the Leprechaun" are a nod to Boston's large Irish population, and also to the Original Celtics, which was a marquee team prior to the NBA.
The Celtics play on the iconic parquet floor at TD Garden. TD Garden is a multi-purpose arena in the North End of Boston that is also home to the Boston Bruins in the NHL. You might also catch Disney on Ice, concerts, comedy acts and other sports games here.
