Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has been teasing some big news for the last few weeks, specifically mentioning "dropping BIG news." Today, the park announced that it is adding a Drop Tower in spring 2014!
With Falcon's Fury, guests will rise 300 feet into the air before diving like a bird of prey! Unlike most drop towers that leave guests in a seated position before the big plummet, Falcon's Fury will pivot them 90 degrees into a "daring dive position" before plunging them 60 mph down to where they started.
Standing at 335 feet tall, Falcon's Fury will be visible across the park -- and even across the Tampa Bay area.
For those of you who aren't familiar with it, what makes Busch Gardens Tampa Bay so amazing is that some of Florida's biggest coasters can be found in the park nestled among some incredible animal attractions. And now there will be a new kind of thrill ride to experience!
While I always like a good drop ride (like Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Doctor Doom's Fearfall at Islands of Adventure), I know there are some theme park fans who hate them. As a frog, the idea of experiencing it face down and diving like a bird of prey adds a completely new -- and terrifyingly good -- element! I'm looking forward to learning more about this coming attraction over the next few months!
What do you think? Will you ride Falcon's Fury?
Stay cool!
