It's time to break out the glitter! Disney Jollywood Nights is a brand-new event taking place on select nights from Nov. 11 to Dec. 20, 2023, at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Experience the Hollywood glamour combined with festive yuletide fun. The party features fireworks, special entertainment, characters, specialty food and drink and complimentary PhotoPass downloads — it's sure to be a holly jolly time! With a few more event dates remaining, you can still get your tickets (and Undercover Tourist is offering discount event tickets)!

Disney Jollywood Nights — Disney Holidays in Hollywood stage show

Overview of Disney Jollywood Nights

Jollywood Nights map and lanyard

New this year, Disney Jollywood Nights is a separately ticketed event occurring after regular park hours on 10 select nights from Nov. 11 to Dec. 20, 2023. This brand-new event combines the holidays with the glitz and glam of the past. While there is plenty to enjoy during the day with the holidays at Disney's Hollywood Studios, this event includes lots of exclusive offerings not seen anywhere else!

The event features the return of the fan-favorite "Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM" nighttime spectacular plus even more special entertainment, including a new show hosted by Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog (it was the top highlight of our night, and we're not even being biased!). There are also character greetings throughout the park, along with access to favorite rides such as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (with a virtual queue), Slinky Dog Dash, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and more. PhotoPass downloads are included with your event ticket, so be sure to enjoy special PhotoPass stops and holiday-themed Magic Shots around the park. Plus, savor specialty food and drink offerings.

Jollywood Nights - Dates Infographic

Disney Jollywood Nights Special Entertainment

Jollywood Nights is wrapped with exclusive entertainment, which ended up being our favorite parts of the night.

Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!

Jingle Bell Jingle BAM

Jollywood Nights brings the return of "Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!". This nighttime spectacular was last shown during the 2019 holiday season. Join elf duo Wayne and Lanny from "Prep and Landing" with festive projections on the Chinese Theater, music, lasers, fireworks and more.

As they say in show business, the show must go on ... and Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! indeed went on as planned while it rained on opening night.

Note that Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! is exclusive to the event and is not shown during regular park hours.

Showtime: 12:30 a.m.

"Disney Holidays in Hollywood" at Theater of the Stars

Jollywood Nights - Tiana in Disney Holidays in Hollywood

A new show hosted by Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy? Sign us up! Our two favorite muppets host a musical variety show (inspired by the glamour of a Hollywood TV special) with guests such as Belle, Tiana, Mickey and Minnie. The stage show takes place at the Theater of the Stars on Sunset Boulevard.

Mickey and Minnie in "Holidays in Hollywood"

Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy were the perfect hosts and left us laughing with jokes about churros and spirit jerseys. Tiana sang an original song, as well as "Up on the Housetop." Mickey and Minnie starred in a cute segment with Mickey surprising Minnie with a Christmas tree. And Belle delivered a message of hope with "As Long As There's Christmas."

After attending two different nights, we noticed that the first 8:45 p.m. showing fills up quicker as many people line up early using the pre-party time. If you really want the best centered seats, this could be a good use of time. But we found you can find seats even 5-10 minutes until showtime, so you don't need to arrive to early if wanting to maximize the event (and are okay with a further-away view). In our park plan, we recommend the last showing as it is the least crowded — we got a close side seat just five minutes beforehand!

Showtimes: 8:45 p.m., 9:45 p.m., 10:45 p.m., 11:45 p.m.

"What's This? Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along" at the Hyperion Theater

Disney Jollywood Nights - Jack Skellington

A spirited sing-along occurs at the Hyperion Theater throughout the night. And yes! It's Nightmare Before Christmas-themed! You can sing along to your favorite songs from the movie and find special surprises in unusual places. You'll even defeat Oogie Boogie and be inspired to "follow your curiosity."

We attended both the first and last show of the night and were able to get seats just before it started! You can typically arrive even five minutes before and still have a good view.

Showtimes: 8:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m., 10:30 p.m., 11:30 p.m.

Holiday Fiesta en la Calle

Partake in a lively Latin Street Fair at Commissary Lane. The vibrant alley features Latin holiday music, colorful decor and food and drink inspired by Latin holiday traditions. At ABC Commissary, we tried dishes including the Chicken Empanadas with Street Corn, Birria Taco and Mexican Hot Cocoa Cheesecake (the latter was our favorite dessert of the night!). Especially with the cooler weather, this is a great spot to seat down inside and warm up a little.

Jazzy Holidays at The Hollywood Brown Derby

Disney Jollywood Nights — Hollywood Brown Derby

Delight in a Hollywood-themed jazz lounge with Jazzy Holidays at The Hollywood Brown Derby Restaurant and enjoy holiday music, craft cocktails and an exclusive food menu (we really enjoyed the Derby Sliders!). Note that the food and drink are available at an additional cost.

Tables will initially be available on a first-come, first-served basis until they reach capacity. The standby queue will be available close to the beginning of the event, so if it is a priority, we recommend lining up in the pre-event time. Once the first seating fills up, you'll need to join the Mobile Walk-Up List via the My Disney Experience app (be sure you have the latest version and location services enabled). You may also scan a QR code at the restaurant. Note that in order to join the Walk-Up List, you have to be in very close proximity to the restaurant (we were too far away on Sunset Boulevard near Tower of Terror). If the walk-up list is full, be sure to check back later, as we had success getting a table later in the night.

Twilight Soiree at The Tip Top Club

Disney Jollywood Nights — Tip Top Club

Over by Tower of Terror, be sure to visit the Twilight Soiree at the Tip Top Club. Experience a live band, dancing and cocktails (for an additional purchase) at The Hollywood Tower Hotel Courtyard. While there can be a long line for drinks, anyone may walk through the area to take in the sights and sounds — or even hop on the dance floor! (I'm looking at you Leap...)

Other Entertainment

Available prior to Jollywood starting, Santa Claus meets during regular hours in It's a Wonderful Shop at Grand Avenue. He greets guests until 8 p.m. each night through Dec. 24, so you have a chance to meet him during your pre-event time! Be sure to head over there as soon as you arrive at 7 p.m. so you can add your phone number to the virtual list. Once you receive your text, you'll hop in the short standby line and get to chat with Santa, a perfect way to start the evening!

During the event, enjoy a DJ spinning holiday tunes at Centerstage as well as smaller pop-ups throughout the park. You can also see Sunset Seasons Greetings every night again this year (during both regular hours and at Jollywood). The Tower of Terror becomes a magical holiday display with festive projections, and it even "snows" along Sunset Boulevard.

Disney Jollywood Nights — Photo-op near entrance

Be sure to utilize your complimentary PhotoPass downloads with special MagicShots and two new photo experiences. Over at Animation Courtyard, get a video of you on the red carpet with the GlamBot, featuring a cool Robotic Arm that captures an epic slow-mo video of your group (we definitely felt like celebrities!). Don't miss the bright Disney Jollywood Nights photo-op, available once the event starts by the park entrance.

Disney Jollywood Nights Character Greetings and Rides

Disney Jollywood Nights - Mickey Mouse

We're so excited to see some of our favorite characters at Jollywood Nights, including some rare characters (what a treat!). Here's where you can find them!

  • Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse (alternating pair), Donald Duck and Daisy Duck (alternating pair), Goofy and Pluto (alternating pair) are dressed in their new vintage-inspired Hollywood glitz and glam outfits at Animation Courtyard (on a hot set with holiday props)
  • Powerline Max, Phineas and Ferb and Chip 'n' Dale (as Rescue Rangers) at Echo Lake (with classic holiday decor)
  • Edna Mode and Frozone at Pixar Plaza
  • Keep an eye out for other rare characters such as Santa Duffy, Santa Stitch, Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio, Mary Poppins and Penguin and more! (Entertainment is subject to change, so you never know which festive character may appear!)

Disney Jollywood Nights - Phineas & Ferb

The most popular characters were Phineas and Ferb (we stopped by and decided to catch a glimpse from afar when cast members estimated an hour wait time). However, we only waited less than 20 minutes to meet Mickey in his dapper outfit (and this gets even shorter later in the night). Note that the characters in Animation Courtyard alternate. We were originally in line to see Minnie and she left with Mickey coming out shortly after. Santa Duffy and Santa Stitch are also quite popular, often remaining around 45 minutes.

Rides

Disney After Hours — No crowds in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Amongst all the holiday fun, you'll also be able to enjoy lower wait times on your favorite attractions, similar to other evening events such as Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party or Disney After Hours at Hollywood Studios. We didn't see wait times rise above 35 minutes all night long for popular rides such as Slinky Dog Dash, with the majority of rides 10 minutes or less. We also tested out the virtual queue for Rise of the Resistance — from scanning in to exiting the ride vehicle, it took 30 minutes.

With so much special entertainment and exclusive offerings, we generally recommend not focusing on rides as much, or saving them for the end of the event. Since you can get in at 7 p.m., that gives you an hour and a half of regular park hours to hop on some attractions, especially any that might not be open during the event.

Available Attractions and Experiences:

Sunset Boulevard

  • Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Hollywood Boulevard

  • Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway

Toy Story Land

  • Slinky Dog Dash
  • Toy Story Mania!
  • Alien Swirling Saucers

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Virtual queue only)
  • Savi's Workshop (closes early — last show is at 10:20 p.m.)
  • Droid Depot

Grand Avenue

  • Star Tours: The Adventures Continue

For Rise of the Resistance, event guests may enter the virtual queue beginning at 8 p.m. You do not have to be in Hollywood Studios to join. Remember you can only join the virtual queue once per event. On our second night, we were actually able to join the virtual queue around 10 p.m., as it had not filled up yet. Virtual queues typically fill up in seconds, though this differs each night. so it can't hurt to check the My Disney Experience app. Our Boarding Group was actually called as we were heading into the final Holidays in Hollywood show and then the fireworks, so we were not able to make it over there in time. If rides are a priority, keep in mind that you'll want to be flexible with  your Rise of the Resistance timing.

Disney Jollywood Nights Dining and Shopping

Jollywood Nights Food Guide — Gertie Cookie

Specialty food and drinks are available for purchase during the event. We enjoyed new favorites such as the Holiday Turkey Popover from Fairfax Fare, Mexican Hot Cocoa Cheesecake from ABC Commissary, the Sliders from The Hollywood Brown Derby and the adorable Christmas Gertie Cookie. For full menus, hop over to our Jollywood Nights food guide!

Here is a list of open restaurants during Jollywood featuring exclusive event offerings:

  • Dockside Diner
  • Epic Eats
  • Fairfax Fare
  • Gertie's Ice Cream of Extinction
  • Market

  • Catalina Eddie's
  • Rosie's All-American Cafe

Jollywood Nights Tips and Park Plan

Disney Jollywood Nights Park Plan

We all enjoyed ourselves and had a fun time exploring a brand-new event! After the first night, certain aspects were changed or added that helped the operations improve. Attending a second time allowed us to utilize our park plan and we got a lot accomplished in a stress-free night. Available for download, our Jollywood Nights park plan features three different versions depending on your priorities.

Check out some of our tips for Jollywood after attending two separate nights:

  • Be sure to arrive as early as possible. While the event starts at 8:30 p.m., you can arrive as early as 7 p.m. with just your event ticket. This is a great time to eat dinner (if you haven't already), watch Fantasmic, knock out some rides or even meet Santa.
  • For those already inside the park, you can check in at the Star Wars Launch Bay or Muppet*Vision3D to get your party wristband, starting around 6 p.m.
  • Dress for the occasion! This new event puts the "holly" in Hollywood with the glitz and glam of the past. It's a perfect chance to pull out some dapper outfits with so many great photo-ops.
  • Be sure to prioritize your must-dos for the event. Will it be a certain entertainment show, the fireworks or exploring the park at night and enjoying low waits on rides? It's up to you to decide, but know you'll typically want to focus on either lots of rides or the majority of entertainment. We suggest identifying your top three must-do items!
  • We saw the most crowds in Sunset Boulevard early on during the event, just as the party was getting started. We'd recommend hopping by later in the night and starting with meeting characters or grabbing food in Animation Courtyard or Echo Lake first.
  • Remember that Rise of the Resistance will only be available during the party using a virtual queue. You'll need to join a boarding group at 8 p.m. in the My Disney Experience app in order to ride. You have the usual one-hour return time window once your boarding group is called.
  • Be sure to utilize the many PhotoPass photographers and festive backdrops, as complimentary PhotoPass digital downloads are included with your event ticket! Our favorite had to be the glambot, which is located in Animation Courtyard.
  • Stay until the very end to maximize your night and watch Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!

As for the big question, "Is Jollywood Nights worth it?" we think the event is good if wanting to experience Hollywood Studios with some extra holiday entertainment. We think it's best for couples wanting a fun holiday date night and repeat visitors who have attended Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party multiple times and want to experience something new. It is a family-friendly event, though we observed it was mainly an older crowd. Overall, we think this event can pack a lot in and has a lot of potential. We hope for even more growth if it becomes a holiday tradition at Hollywood Studios.

I am a 70 year old New York State resident. My companion for a Jollywood evening party is a 74 year old Florida resident. Neither one of us has a "Smart" phone, only small "Flip" phones. we will not be carrying internet or My Disney Experience app during this party. Does this mean that we are both shut out of certain rides simply because we do not own Smart Phones?

Hi Claudia!

The majority of the rides have standby lines so no Internet or smartphones needed for those. However, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is utilizing a virtual queue during Jollywood Nights, which you would need to join via a smartphone with the My Disney Experience app. If you would like to ride, we would recommend that you hop in the standby line for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance during the pre-party time from 7 to 8 p.m. when it's still open for daytime park guests before the park officially closes at 8 p.m.

Jollywood Nights is a brand-new event, which is so frogciting but we're also not exactly sure what to expect until Disney announces more details.

I wonder why they are doing a virtual que for Rise. I don't remember the After Hours in January being virtual.

Hi Shay!

There's always a possibility that virtual queues can return from time to time, particularly if Disney expects there could be high demand. While we don't know any specific reason on why it's returning for Rise, our best guess is due to Jollywood Nights being a brand-new event.

I already have tickets for that day at HWS. Will they allow us to stay until closing or kick us out early like they do on Mickey's Christmas at the MK?

I really wish they would sell a discounted version of this ticket if you are already booked for that park but the word discount and Disney are rarely used together.

Hi IthacaGuy!

The event is scheduled to take place from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and Hollywood Studios typically closes at 9 p.m. Park hours haven't been officially released yet (currently only showing up to Nov. 3), but it is likely the park will close a little early.

Any idea what time the virtual queue will open for ROR for Jollywood Nights?

Hi Melissa!

Disney has not announced details on the virtual queue for Jollywood Nights yet. But if we had to guess based on how the virtual queue works for Extended Evening Hours (Tron and Cosmic Rewind) and Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (Tron), it would open at 6 p.m. and guests would not have to be inside the park when the virtual queue opens. We will update this post once details are officially confirmed.

Is the 5 1/2 hours enough time to experience DHS, especially Galaxy's Edge and its rides? We have been to DHS before but it was 10+ years ago.

Hi Mike!

Disney Jollywood Nights is a brand-new event this year, so we aren't 100% sure what crowd levels and wait times will be like. If it'll be anything like the After Hours event that happened earlier this year (with a similar timeframe), then you should be able to get most, if not all, of the rides done. However, if you're interested in seeing the shows such as Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular and A Frozen Sing-Along and taking your time with Galaxy Edge experiences including Savi's and Droid Depot, you may want to visit during the day.

Hi Sandy!

We wish we knew so we could help you plan, but we're not toadally sure! Last year, Disney made the lineup announcement at the end of September, so we wouldn't expect to hear anything until a couple months out. But we'll be sure to update our Festival of the Holidays post as soon as we hear anything official!

The event will take place from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and Hollywood Studios typically closes at 9 p.m. For official confirmation, park hours aren't released until about six weeks in advance. It is likely the park will close a little early (we'd assume it'll be around 8 p.m., though again, we won't know for sure until it gets closer!).
