Disney & Parks News: Why Orlando's Airport Is So Entertaining; Changes Afoot at Marathon

Orlando

It's time for the Frog Family's weekly roundup of Disney and Orlando theme park tidbits from the interwebs.

We love comments! Drop us a line below if you have something to share.

This week’s highlights:

  • The folks at Orlando Informer have put together a list of the top 5 entertainment features at Orlando International Airport that starts off with the on-site theme park shops and ends with a King of Kong arcade. How many airports can you think of that actually have five entertainment features? This probably explains why Orlando was recently named the best airport in the U.S. for traveling with kids.

  • Walt Disney World MarathonRegistration opened this week for the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, which takes place in January. The folks at runDisney announced some additional welcomed news -- that they would be reducing the number of entrants to allow more space on the course and making other efforts to improve the race experience.
  • The Loews Portofino Bay Hotel just completed a renovation of all 750 of its rooms and suites. You can check out the new look in soft, muted tones that Mommy Frog would say are pleasing to the palette.

  • Raglan Road Sunday BrunchIt's almost the weekend, so of course, why not discuss Sunday brunch? The Disney Parks Blog takes a look at the sumptuous traditional Sunday roast offered at Raglan Road. And if you can't get there soon, we do have Raglan Road's recipe for loin of bacon that you can make yourself.

  • We're getting very close to the 15th anniversary of Disney's Animal Kingdom on April 22, which will be marked in the park with a "Party for the Planet" and more festivities.

  • The Disney Parks Blog paid tribute to the original Mouseketeer Annette Funicello, who passed away earlier this week.

  • AT&T U-verse subscribers can now watch the Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior online and on their mobile devices.

  • A pair of panthers (brother and sister) have moved into a new habitat at Gatorland. They're adjusting to their new neighbors (the gators). Makes me think it's time for the Frog Family to pay Gatorland a visit -- after all, we offer tickets!

  • Viva la Musica via Seaworldparks.comJust a quick reminder that Viva La Musica kicks off at SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay this weekend, with concerts from Daddy Yankee and Ednita Nazario respectively. This is a (Frog) family event worth checking out!
  • I was happy to hear that the "living" Captain Hook topiary made another appearance -- this time at Epcot's International Flower & Garden Festival. Tad loved watching the reactions, but he was a bit bummed that Hook wasn't in action on his last visit.

That’s all for this week. Until next week, happy planning!
