Festivals. Concerts. Food. (That's our personal fave!) Events are some of the biggest reasons to visit Walt Disney World Resort. Many of the Disney World events have become so popular that people time their trips just to attend! Here is the full schedule of Disney World events in 2023 and 2024 to help you plan your visit.

Separately ticketed events continue to remain popular, like Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, plus Disney After Hours announced new dates for spring 2024. The holidays saw the debut of Disney Jollywood Nights, a new separately ticketed holiday event at Hollywood Studios. Plus, the D100 celebration continues at Disney World this fall with EPCOT as its central host. We update this post throughout the year as new event details are released and dates are added.

For those of you who have already picked your dates, this post also serves as a guide for what will be hoppening while you're there. You'll find all of the Walt Disney World events in 2023 and 2024 on our Crowd Calendar. You can also see crowd levels and park recommendations on the days that events are taking place. We've even got a whole post detailing some of the very best times to plan a Disney World trip in 2023 and 2024. Be sure to bookmark this page if you've got a trip coming up to stay up-to-date on all of the exciting events to come!

Does anyone know when disney will put out any event dates for August 2023? Last year Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party cut into my day at the MK and trying to pre plan the park having weird hours again.

We're not sure when the 2023 dates will be announced, but last year, the 2022 event dates were revealed at the end of April, so potentially, an announcement could be coming within the next month or so.

Hello! Travelling in October and noticed on both of my reserved days - Epcot Oct 27, 2022 and MK Oct 30, 2022 it states both fireworks shows are “closed”. Is this normal? Any idea why this could be? Will be very disappointed if we miss both shows. Thanks!

While the entertainment schedules aren’t usually posted until closer to the date, there likely will not be fireworks at MK on October 30th due to the Halloween party that night. Things are still in the process of getting back to normal so we won’t know for sure until WDW posts info, but there may only be full park hours and fireworks on very few nights at MK leading up to Oct 31st. Epcot should have their night show daily… no reason for them not.

Hi Nicole!

If the showtimes are not available, then it's most likely due to the fact that the entertainment schedule has not been released (which is typically a couple months in advance) — and does not necessarily mean that the shows will be closed. We recommend that you hop back as it gets closer to your trip to confirm showtimes!

Hi Jessic!

You can get in early to the parks with your After Hours admission (usually around 7 p.m.), so you should be able to catch fireworks at their normally scheduled time - they technically don't run during the party, but since you'll have access to the park before the party starts, you'll be able to watch! Enjoy!

Sep 30, 2021 at 4:08 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Elias!

Since this will be the first runDisney event returning and it falls not too long after the 50th anniversary starts, we could see more people sticking around for the entire weekend, thus increasing crowds. Our Crowd Calendar shows that this weekend will have level 7 crowds, which is above average but still manageable.

Thanks so much for the tips!

We are planning our week long stay starting Jan 8-15 (park days 10-14). I know the marathon will be 5-9, but wanted to know do the crowds die down the week after the marathon or does it stay high? Would you recommend we push our trip back a week to Jan 15-22?

Reply
Sep 7, 2021 at 9:54 a.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Stephanie!

You'll likely see the biggest impacts of the event with transportation and hotel & dining reservations during the weekend. Some may stay the following week (perhaps more than usual this year because of the 50th anniversary), but overall it should have light to moderate crowds. We'd avoid changing to Jan. 15 to 22, due to MLK Weekend. But if you decide you'd rather avoid Marathon Weekend, another great option would be Jan. 22-29, as it's typically a week with low crowds.

We plan to be at DisneyWorld Oct. 27-29 and would like to visit Magic Kingdom to see the fall decorations. Taking into consideration lower crowds, is it better to visit MK on days Disney's After Hours Boo Bash is scheduled or visit on a regular day? We do not plan to attend Boo Bash as tickets are sold out the dates we will be there. Also, has the "Kiss Goodnight" been reinstated at MK and can it only be viewed in non-event days?

Reply
Aug 17, 2021 at 3:48 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Jocelyn!

On event nights, Magic Kingdom closes at 8:30 p.m. and on non-event nights, the park closes at 9 p.m., so if you want to take advantage of the extra half hour and not lose any time, we'd recommend a non-event night. After Hours guests aren't able to enter the park until 7 p.m. The only timeframe during which you might notice a slight difference is between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., but crowds usually start to form at the hub about an hour before, regardless if it's an event or non-event night. As for the Kiss Goodnight, it has hoppened a couple of times since the parks reopened last year, but it has not been seen on a regular basis just yet.

We went to boo Bash on August 27th. The park DID NOT close early. They had fireworks at 845 then the party started after. Unless that changes there’s no reason to skip that day in the park

Sep 7, 2021 at 12:01 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Lori!

You're right! In August, Boo Bash started at 9:30 p.m. so the park closed at 9 p.m., which had been the usual time that Magic Kingdom would close, so there wasn't any difference. But now fireworks are starting at 8:15 p.m., and in September and October, Boo Bash starts at 9 p.m. and Magic Kingdom closes a half hour early (8:30 p.m.) on event nights. It's not a major difference! But if someone wants to take advantage of that extra half hour, we'd suggest a non-event night.

When we are going to Disney in April and there are 2 Morning Magic at the Studios. How do you think that will affect the crowds there?

We have park hopper tickets (from you) do you think we should avoid bothering to Rope Drop the studios those days?

Hi Holly,

This depends on whether you are going during the EMH or not. Since you say rope drop, my guess is you're staying off-site? If that is the case, it would be better to start at a park without morning EMH.

When will WDW release their calendar of events for January 2020? We want to plan our vacation for that month and would like to go when perhaps there's not anything big going on. If that's possible??

Hi Nancy,

Thanks for "hopping" by. Disney typically releases information throughout the year vs. at one time for the whole next year, but we'll keep this post updated as they do.

Can the new tickets be upgraded to a DVC (we are members) passholder ticket at guest services on our first day visiting the parks, and the price we paid for the UC ticket applied to upgrade to DVC passholder? Thanks for your help! Happy Holidays to all.

We just attended Return to Sleepy Hollow. This was a showing of the Disney movie and a photo op with the Headless Horseman. I paid extra for the treat bag, and was not disappointed. I was looking for more unadvertised events like this and couldn't find any. Do you have any inside knowledge?

Hi Heather!

How did you find out about the Return to Sleepy Hollow event? We imagine it is similar for others. Many of these events are annual passholder exclusives or social media meet-ups.

Just saw this here:

Night of Joy— Not returning for 2018

This contemporary Christian music festival takes place each September. Concerts are held at indoor and outdoor venues at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Last year admission to Saturday's concerts included a day at one of the four theme parks. Night of Joy is a separately ticketed event.

is that true? "Not returning for 2018"?

I was looking forward in the hours for August and September, and I noticed something very interesting. On August 25th which is a Friday one would think the park would be open later, but the park hour said it will close at 7pm, when party nights are held for the MNSSHP and MVMCP. So I think that this year they are going to be doing the parties earlier then before, since they also bump up food and wine...food for thought!

I have been searching every week for the lineup as we plan our EPCOT Visits around Stayin' Alive each year. But the lineup has always been posted in early April, so I am assuming the rumors of its demise are true.
