Hi there! Welcome to our weekly roundup of the most interesting theme park news around the Walt Disney World Resort, the Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando and other theme parks.
Here Are This Week’s Theme Park Highlights:
- Get Your Ears On while you still can! Mickey and Minnie's 90th birthday celebration at the Disneyland Resort, including the nighttime spectacular Mickey's Mix Magic, will be coming to an end June 6, 2019. In its place, the Disneyland Forever firework spectacular (Mommy Frog's absolute favorite!) will be returning beginning June 7, 2019.
- Raise your hand if you're ready to visit Black Spire Outpost! (We are! We are!) Guests visiting Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge before June 24 will need a no-cost reservation to enter. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge reservations are now available for Disneyland Resort hotel guests; for off-site guests, reservation information will be released May 2 at 8 a.m. PT, with reservations available for booking at 10 a.m. PT that same day. Be sure you have a Disney account created before the booking window opens! You can learn more about how to get your Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge reservation here. (Tad already has his lightsaber packed!)
- Choo choo! Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway will be rolling into the Disneyland Resort in 2022. The first Mickey-themed attraction will be coming to Toontown and will feature an adventure through a wacky Mickey Mouse cartoon short, with Goofy as the engineer. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is also planned to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort in spring 2020.
- Universal Orlando will officially deck its halls this year from Nov. 16, 2019, through Jan. 5, 2020. At the Holidays at Universal Orlando, you can celebrate the season with the grumpy green master of ceremonies for Grinchmas, experience Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (featuring our friends, the Frog Choir) and listen to the legendary Mannheim Steamroller holiday concerts.
- Disney's Animal Kingdom's nighttime projection spectacular, "Rivers of Light," will be getting an update next month. "Rivers of Light: We Are One" will incorporate moments from Disneynature and Disney films alike, and will debut on Memorial Day Weekend.
That’s it for the theme park news this week! Have a great weekend.
Hoppy planning!
