Did you ever wish you could feed your family at Disneyland without waiting in line or be able to plan your meals in advance? Good news! Getting food at fast-casual and quick-service restaurants at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure just got a lot quicker. The new Disneyland Mobile Ordering Service eliminates the wait time for freshly prepared food. You can use the Disneyland Mobile App to order food and dessert from select Disneyland restaurants as quickly as right away or for later on in the day if you want to plan ahead for a later meal. We hopped over to test it out and were absolutely amazed at how easy it was. We're walking you through the ins and outs so you can hop on it during your next trip!
With the Disneyland Mobile Ordering Service, you skip the line to place your order. You can conveniently place your order from anywhere inside or outside of the parks, even if you have not entered the park for the day. You can literally plan lunch or dinner while waiting in line for a ride or from your hotel room before you head to the park! You could even order food through the app while standing in the restaurant and bypass the other guests still waiting to order.
We’ve all been hungry at Disneyland. But not willing to wait in a long food line, we often choose something quicker and maybe not as healthy from a cart (say a Mickey pretzel, churro or popcorn) because we are busy hopping to the next ride or show. Sometimes one member of your group may be hungry for a meal but the rest of the group wants to eat somewhere else or press on rather than wait in line. Now you can order food and grab it in mere seconds instead of a 15- to 20-minute wait, meaning you can get what you want when you want it. The restaurant prepares it once you have indicated that you are there and ready for it, so it’s not drying out under a heat lamp. It’s fresh and made up right when you arrive!
Side note: Planning your Disneyland trip? We're so hoppy to now be selling Disneyland Resort tickets!
How to Use the Disneyland Mobile Ordering Service
In order to take advantage of the Mobile Ordering Service, you need to download the Disneyland mobile app and set up an account. We recommend doing this before your trip, so you can be ready to order in the park and to purchase Disney MaxPass if you are planning to use the app to make FASTPASS reservations or use MaxPass to get PhotoPass downloads. If you already have the Disneyland app, be sure to update to the latest version to activate the Disneyland Mobile Ordering Service function and Touch ID for the app, which can save you the hassle of constantly typing in passwords to make a purchase. If you have not used the Disneyland app yet, be sure to link your park ticket or annual pass once you have entered the park.
To order food through the Disneyland Mobile Ordering Service:
- Open the app and click “Order Food” (either under My Plans or in the menu that comes up when you click the + symbol).
- Select a restaurant and 30-minute arrival window.
- Make your food selections.
- Click “View My Order.” Select “Modify Order” or “Review Order Summary.”
- Scroll to the bottom and select “Purchase.”
- When you arrive to the Mobile Order Pick Up area in your 30-minute window, tap “I’m Here, Prepare My Order. ” Once you tap that, your order is final and nonrefundable.
If you do not tap “I’m here…” before park closing and do not pick up your food, your order will be cancelled when the park closes. You cannot modify submitted orders, but you can cancel them before you arrive to pick them up. The phone will keep you updated on the status of your order and tell you when it is ready, and the employees will call it out as well. We were pleasantly surprised at how quickly our food was ready.
Disneyland Restaurants That Offer Mobile Ordering
Disneyland’s Mobile Ordering Service recently launched at restaurants in both parks. The restaurant selection may change due to demand and as the parks see how well the new system works and how it can be applied at other restaurants.

Ordering with Food Allergies
If you have food allergies, you can find choices that work for some of the more common allergies like soy, gluten/wheat, eggs, fish/shellfish, milk or peanut/tree nuts on the mobile ordering menu. When looking over the menu, just keep scrolling down until you get to the dishes at a particular restaurant that are friendly to your food allergy. If you have multiple allergies or other special dietary concerns, it’s best to order in person or talk to the chef.
The Limitations of Disneyland Mobile Ordering Service
Mobile Ordering is not for everyone. You won’t find any Disneyland secret menu items on the app because they are … well … secret. You’ll have to ask for those in person. You might miss out on special seasonal or festival offerings because they may not appear as menu choices. For instance, the limited-time Pixar Fest menu items do not appear on the mobile menu.
You can add basic items like sides and popular toppings (perhaps bacon on your burger or sprinkles on ice cream), and you can make choices for sides when offered. You may be able to customize your selection by saying no thanks to some of the ingredients, but maybe not all. If you are the kind of family that wants a lot of items left off or substituted and likes to fine-tune their meals, then you are probably best waiting in line.
If you are a more spontaneous family and eat when something strikes your fancy, then you might refrain from ordering too far in advance. You can, however, cancel orders if you hop across something that sounds more appetizing, so don’t be afraid to use this service. It helps to have a strong sense of where you want to eat and what you want to have if you use it.
Using your phone for ordering and collecting food will put more strain on your phone battery over the course of the day. That’s why we always use phone cases that also include extra battery life and external chargers when visiting the parks since we started using MaxPass, and this is highly recommended. If you don’t have any mobile chargers, you can purchase an external charger in the park, and it comes with unlimited exchanges so you can keep the whole family operating at full power.
If you prefer to use cash or a Disney gift card to pay for meals, then the Disneyland Mobile Ordering Service may not be for you since payment goes straight to credit card. At this time you cannot add a gift card to the app to make purchases. It can also be harder to stay on budget when you have such easy access to your favorite Disneyland food and treats with the click of a button! When you aren’t opening your wallet it can be harder to keep track of how much you spend, so be sure to stick to your budget.
On the other hand, not having to pull out money all the time can make your journey more enjoyable. Other family members or friends who have your username or password can also place food orders through the app. That can be a good thing if members of the group split off and get hungry but don’t have money, and it can be a bad thing because you don’t have much control over how much they spend and ultimately can get stuck with the bill. That’s why we recommend that all families create their own username and password in the Disneyland app and add their own credit cards even if one person is managing a large group for FASTPASS reservations through MaxPass. Here’s a look on the bright side and more benefits of this new feature!
The Benefits of Disneyland Mobile Ordering Service
The obvious benefit to using this service is the time savings. While we frogs are not always interested in downloading more apps, we make an exception for the Disneyland app because it saves so much time in waiting in food lines (not to mention saving us many ride lines with MaxPass). That means we can spend more time playing as a family, seeing shows or riding rides instead of standing in food (or ride) lines. Mobile ordering also makes it a lot easier for family members with different tastes to eat from different restaurants. Many times some group members prefer one restaurant while other members want an item offered elsewhere. The Disneyland Mobile Ordering Service allows you to place separate orders for items from different restaurants and pick them up in no time at all compared to waiting in two or three separate long lines to get your family fed. You can collect food from one restaurant on the way to another. No whining or compromises necessary.
Applicable discounts (such as linked annual pass discounts) are automatically taken off the bill when you use this service, and you don’t have to take time to pay because the meal is billed straight to your credit card. You simply arrive at the marked Mobile Order Pick Up area, tap a button and collect your food. It’s that easy. You can send your family members to pick up their food without any money, although they should bring a phone.
If you are looking for healthier food choices in the parks, then the Mobile Ordering Service can help you to plan ahead for that. Ordering in advance can help you avoid making impulse food purchases. Also, when you can pick up a salad, sandwich, Mickey Check Meal or Power Pack for the tadpoles a lot faster than a churro, you have the ability to choose foods that will give everyone the energy to make it through a long day in the parks. Here are some guidelines for healthy eating at Disneyland in case you need some inspiration! Healthy food choices definitely seem to cut down on meltdowns. Don’t worry if you are looking for quick treats. You can get ice cream pretty quickly though the Disneyland Mobile Ordering Service, too!
So that’s the scoop on the Disneyland Mobile Ordering Service. We jump for joy at anything that helps us skip the lines, and at least for now, this service really delivers. Find out more about the best Disneyland quick-service restaurants and best California Adventure quick-service restaurants before your visit to help speed up your dining decisions once you are in the parks. Be sure to hop over to learn about Disneyland MaxPass, an optional paid service that allows you to make FASTPASS reservations from your smartphone through the Disneyland app, so you can even further maximize your time at Disneyland.
