Inside This Post Inside This Post

As you get ready to plan your Disneyland trip, it's helpful to know which rides and experiences may be closed or undergoing refurbishment during your visit. Here is the full Disneyland refurbishment schedule and permanent ride closings. There is still plenty to do and see at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.

Booked from apr 27 to May 1

Is there any chance any of these refurbs finish early? Indiana Jones is scheduled to finish May 1...re-open May 2.....Never been on that one.

Does early ever happen? Or is all hope lost?

Went last year mid May and Pirates of the the Caribbean was closed. We have another trip planned mid May this year and wondering if anyone knows if Pirates of the Caribbean should be open. It's our favorite ride so really hoping it's open this time!

If you go to disney.com they will show you now till mid May all the closures and events. Go to the park hours and look under 5 day view at the days you will be there. Scroll all the way down to the bottom, and you will see all the rides currently scheduled for refurbishment! It looks like Pirates should be open!!!! Enjoy your trip!

How far in advance are refurbs posted? We are planning trip end of Oct. 2015. I'm hoping with all going on early for diamond celebration that there will be very little refurb during our visit?

Most refurbs seem to happen in September transferring out of the peak summer season and into the holday season. October will be nice with the Halloween overlay and Nightmare Before Christmas themes being added to the Haunted Mansion. Pirates has been closed recently for a touch up but should be open before Oct 1st.

One thing I didn't realize before we went Jan 29-Jan 31st of 2015 was that the castle would be covered and you wouldn't be able to see it. That was the biggest bummer even though I knew it was going to be "closed" before we decided to go. Getting details as to why it was hidden from sight just made me want to come back later this year. They are getting ready to celebrate the 60th anniversary and they are glittering up the castle. Lots of exciting things are coming for the celebration. Sad now that we won't get to see all that exciting stuff.

Thanks so much for this! As a new (out of state) annual passholder, and having been a handful of times the past few years, I'm curious of one thing: how good are they at keeping to the schedule? If I plan a trip for late April or early May, do you think I can count on Critter Country being re-opened? A few years ago, I was expecting Thunder Mountain to be reopened when I went in December but it was delayed much beyond that. Thanks for any advice!

Hi Kristyn,

It is possible for refurbishments to be delayed, although most stay within schedule. Usually any delay isn't too far past the original date.

Keep hoppin'!

Hi Paul,

Sometimes refurbs get moved all together, or refurb plans are scrapped, but usually if it is scheduled for rehab, it opens back when expected.

Good to know as I just made new plans to go elsewhere. They are over priced when fully operating so I would never pay full prices for half a show. Never.

The park"s board of directors should consider CLOSING COMPLETELY (for 3 weeks) Re-open Octoberfest..Halloween or Thanksgiving week.

Or discount the entry fee...allow everyone attending to participate in the experience of what happens in "refurbish" as a new attraction. Meals and Hardhats included

Thunder mountain railroad has to undergo the tests due to California laws. However, they permanently closed the area behind it because this is where starters land is going.
