Hi Valeri!

It looks like Blue Bayou is open for reservations that week, according to the Disneyland website - so we think you're safe in terms of a refurbishment hoppening then!

These tend to take a little bit of time, the exception being Space Mountain. The Haunted Mansion's holiday overlay removal happened from Jan. 7-17 in 2019. “It’s a Small World” was closed until about Feb. 1.

Hi Michael!

Hyperspace Mountain is currently running, and according to the OC Register, will continue through October 31. There will be no Ghost Galaxy during Halloween time this year. We see that the calendar has it starting refurbishment on August 28, and the calendar goes out only 6 weeks, so keep checking the calendar over the next few weeks for updates as to when the refurbishment ends.

Also, any idea why DCA closes at 5:00 pm on Thursday, the 15th? Every other day is 9:00 pm.

Thanks!

Hi there! Love this website, it's super helpful! My family and I will be at Disneyland on May 20th, I know the Sleeping Beauty Castle won't be finished until May27/28, but do you think at least that huge wall completely covering it might be down by then? I sure hope so, it sort of takes away the magic!

Hi Rebekah!

Thanks for stopping by - we're hoppy you're here! It’s too hard to call on if the wall will be down, but there is still plenty of magic in the park. The Fantasyland side of the castle covering has some extra special scenery printed on it, so if it’s still up, be sure to check it out! (We know, it's no replacement for the actual castle!)

Hi Tasha!

Changing Space Mountain from Ghost Galaxy back to Space Mountain usually only takes a couple of days or so. In years past, Space Mountain has been closed on November 1 and then been back up and running as early as November 2. As we get closer, the closing date will be announced both on this list and on Disneyland's site here.

We are looking to visit from Australia in January of 2020, however I’m trying to gather some information about the shows and entertainment that will be operating but with not a lot of luck. I’m aware that there will be closures of a few attractions and rides however would love to know what big events will be on during the evening prior to booking. Do you know if World Of Color operates in January? Any idea as to what the Disneyland shows are? We are thinking January 10th-20th but are flexible within that month. Thanks for any info ????

Hi Naomi!

Disneyland only releases show information up to 6 weeks in advance, unfortunately. Since the holiday time will have just ended, this is sometimes a period where there are fewer shows, or when shows just take place on the weekends. But this is also a time when we’ve seen Disneyland release new shows like Mickey’s Mix Magic for Get your Ears On (January 2019), or the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade a few years ago. It is just too early to tell what they have in store for next January. World of Color and Fantasmic! were both in refurbishment for January 2019, but that does not mean they will be closed in January 2020. Stay tuned!

Sephora will do free makeup (you do not have to buy a product, but do make a reservation to get in at the time you would like) and then buy the little princess a dress from the disney store or online at shop disney and a tiara (often found at wedding sections of craft stores) and maybe you could do her hair making the whole experience a bonding time too.

We know that is also Disneyland's birthday. Is there anything special that happens if your birthday is the same day, and you're also in the park that day?

I had posted earlier but do not see my comment listed. I was reading about the wall around the castle. I had also read that all the attractions around the castle will be closed. Will things be open by July? I sure hope so.

Hi there!

How fun to be celebrating both a graduation AND a birthday at the Happiest Place on Earth! Don't forget to grab a complimentary birthday button at City Hall (and some I'm celebrating buttons for the new graduate!) She'll get lots of birthday wishes from cast members and characters throughout the day, but outside of bragging rights, there's no extra perks to sharing a birthday with Disneyland. Congratulations!

As for the wall around the castle, everything is expected to be back up and running in the spring, so everything should be frogtastic by July!

According to Disneyland's calendar, both Fantasmic! and Mickey's Mix Magic (the new nighttime spectacular) will be running as of Friday, 1/18.

I also just heard about this wall and all of the attractions around the castle being closed. We are traveling to Disneyland in mid July. Will everything be open by then?

Hi - WDW Passholders here!

My finance and I are planning our honeymoon to California and are making one of our stops to DL. We just saw that Sleeping Beauty castle has been fenced off. We already bought our 2 day tickets w/max pass and were planning to visit the parks on April 1st and 2nd. Is there a possibility this will be reopened?? We will be so bummed if we can't get that iconic photo in front of the castle with our bride and groom Mickey ears :(

Hi Christina,

We are not sure yet how long the scaffolding will remain in place, but according to the Orange County Register, the refurbishment is expected to last through spring.

Does anyone have any info of the castle walls being down by March/April?

Do you have any idea why the Sleeping Beauty walk through is closed (I hope that they aren't closing it permanently again) and if there is any chance it or the Grizzly Rapids will open during the month of February? How long do they usually close it when they do?

Hi Scott,

We've added more details above about Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough. Grizzly River Rapids closes this time of year for seasonal refurbishment. In some past years, it has reopened in February and in others it has reopened in March.

Hi! We booked our trip March 3rd-March 6th. I looked for frozen live times and dates, but nothing shows after the end of February. Is that just because it's just too much in advance? Same with their dining experience. No available dates. Also, is Fantasmic showing typically that time of the year? I am just nervous we picked a "in between" time of the year to go. Lastly, any updates on Sleeping Beauty's Castle front refurbishment? THANKS!! :)

Hi Nicole,

Frozen Live is still showing no times for me as well on those dates. It could be that a refurbishment or closure is coming (that is still unannounced), or that times for those dates are not yet available for another reason. Fantasmic! is also being refurbished through early March, so it's not clear if it will be back up during your visit. Finally, Sleeping Beauty Castle's refurbishment is expected to last through the spring. Here's hoping they are all back up in time for your visit.

Keep hopping!

Do you know about how the long the Castle refurbishment will be? I want to take my mom for her last trip(she's losing her eyesight) that first week of March, but I want her to see the castle! If you know, please share the info!! Thank you!!

Hello!

I'm visiting in May of 2019. (secretly hoping for a Galaxy's Edge miracle - thinking they may look for a soft opening before Memorial day! Fingers crossed)

I've just read another blog that suggests that Indiana Jones is scheduled for refurbishment in 2019. Do you have any information on that front?

World of Color TBD? Ugh... have a possible plan to take my child (toddler) there at the end of January and that would be a pretty big deal breaker moment there if it's not up.

I keep looking for Fantasmic! dates to open up in late January 2019. We are less than 30 days out from our trip and still haven't been able to book our Blue Bayou package. Have there been any rumors regarding the show and possible closure/refurb?

Hi Angie,

It looks like Disneyland isn't opening up slots that far in advance. My best advice would be to keep checking back.

Do you know what will specifically be closed Dec 22-29. What does it mean closed for holiday overlay?? I hope that mean it opens for the holiday or does it stay closed?

Hi E!

You can find what will be closed during your trip in this post ... or everything confirmed so far, that is! "Closed for holiday overlay" means they are either installing or removing the seasonal holiday decor within the ride.

Hoppy planning!

Does anyone know more specifically when World of Color will re-open? It has said late 2018 for a long time now... and it is late 2018. We go next week and I would hate for my son not to see it!

Hi,

I’m thinking about going to Disneyland in January. Is there anyway to find out exactly what rides wil be closed because of the Christmas decorations removal and what days. No point in going if I cannot go on it’s a small world.

Thank you,

Denise

Hi Martina!

There are no scheduled refurbishments for Space and Big Thunder at this time, so they SHOULD be open when you visit :)

Check out "Ride Closures" and "Ride Refurbishment". They give approximate closing and opening dates.

Have never seen actual dates posted from the open/closing. Good luck.

Hi Denise!

it's a small world usually closes from mid-late January for holiday overlay removal. Specific dates have not been announced, but we'll update this post as soon as we hear!

Hello! We are going for special needs opportunity days on the week of the 1-7 thru 1-13 will everything be closed to take down the Christmas decorations at both parks those days?

Hi Valerie!

Don't worry ... other than it's a small world, nothing should be shut down for Christmas decoration removal :) Most of this happens overnight.
