As you get ready to plan your Disneyland trip, it's helpful to know which rides and experiences may be closed or undergoing refurbishment during your visit. Here is the full Disneyland refurbishment schedule and permanent ride closings. There is still plenty to do and see at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.

Called reservations line the other day. Wanted to make a lunch reservation for Cafe Orleans for our trip. Had tried for a few weeks off and on with no luck. Gal said the restaurant is closed until Wednesday May 22nd now, even though it says 16th online.

Also was told they expect to re-open the castle on 5/28

How long is Space Mountain usually closed for to change the overlay after Halloween?

Hi Tasha!

Changing Space Mountain from Ghost Galaxy back to Space Mountain usually only takes a couple of days or so. In years past, Space Mountain has been closed on November 1 and then been back up and running as early as November 2. As we get closer, the closing date will be announced both on this list and on Disneyland's site here.

Hi!

According to that site (https://disneyland.disney.go.com/attractions/disneyland/space-mountain/) space mountain will be closed starting Friday! Of course the day we're going!

Should this be taken as gospel? It isn't listed in the closed rides section on the calendar: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/calendars/day/2019-05-03/

Thank you!

We are looking to visit from Australia in January of 2020, however I’m trying to gather some information about the shows and entertainment that will be operating but with not a lot of luck. I’m aware that there will be closures of a few attractions and rides however would love to know what big events will be on during the evening prior to booking. Do you know if World Of Color operates in January? Any idea as to what the Disneyland shows are? We are thinking January 10th-20th but are flexible within that month. Thanks for any info ????

Hi Naomi!

Disneyland only releases show information up to 6 weeks in advance, unfortunately. Since the holiday time will have just ended, this is sometimes a period where there are fewer shows, or when shows just take place on the weekends. But this is also a time when we’ve seen Disneyland release new shows like Mickey’s Mix Magic for Get your Ears On (January 2019), or the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade a few years ago. It is just too early to tell what they have in store for next January. World of Color and Fantasmic! were both in refurbishment for January 2019, but that does not mean they will be closed in January 2020. Stay tuned!

We're making our first trip to Disneyland in May and I called yesterday morning to make reservations at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique only to find out they are closed for renovations from May 15th-May 25th. I didn't see this information posted anywhere on their website. Does anyone have any alternatives before I break the news to our little princesses?

Sephora will do free makeup (you do not have to buy a product, but do make a reservation to get in at the time you would like) and then buy the little princess a dress from the disney store or online at shop disney and a tiara (often found at wedding sections of craft stores) and maybe you could do her hair making the whole experience a bonding time too.

Oh no! So sorry to hear it, Wendy - that's certainly news to us! We will be visiting Disneyland in mid July as a surprise for our daughter to celebrate her college graduation. Her birthday is also during that week--July 17. We know that is also Disneyland's birthday. Is there anything special that happens if your birthday is the same day, and you're also in the park that day?

I had posted earlier but do not see my comment listed. I was reading about the wall around the castle. I had also read that all the attractions around the castle will be closed. Will things be open by July? I sure hope so.

Don't forget to grab a complimentary birthday button at City Hall (and some I'm celebrating buttons for the new graduate!) She'll get lots of birthday wishes from cast members and characters throughout the day, but outside of bragging rights, there's no extra perks to sharing a birthday with Disneyland. Congratulations!

As for the wall around the castle, everything is expected to be back up and running in the spring, so everything should be frogtastic by July!

Hi! We booked our trip March 3rd-March 6th. I looked for frozen live times and dates, but nothing shows after the end of February. Is that just because it's just too much in advance? Same with their dining experience. No available dates. Also, is Fantasmic showing typically that time of the year? I am just nervous we picked a "in between" time of the year to go. Lastly, any updates on Sleeping Beauty's Castle front refurbishment? THANKS!! :)

Hi Nicole,

Frozen Live is still showing no times for me as well on those dates. It could be that a refurbishment or closure is coming (that is still unannounced), or that times for those dates are not yet available for another reason. Fantasmic! is also being refurbished through early March, so it's not clear if it will be back up during your visit. Finally, Sleeping Beauty Castle's refurbishment is expected to last through the spring. Here's hoping they are all back up in time for your visit.

Hi,

I’m thinking about going to Disneyland in January. Is there anyway to find out exactly what rides wil be closed because of the Christmas decorations removal and what days. No point in going if I cannot go on it’s a small world.

Thank you,

Denise

Hi Martina!

There are no scheduled refurbishments for Space and Big Thunder at this time, so they SHOULD be open when you visit :)

Check out "Ride Closures" and "Ride Refurbishment". They give approximate closing and opening dates.

Have never seen actual dates posted from the open/closing. Good luck.

Hi Denise!

it's a small world usually closes from mid-late January for holiday overlay removal. Specific dates have not been announced, but we'll update this post as soon as we hear!

Hi Valerie!

Don't worry ... other than it's a small world, nothing should be shut down for Christmas decoration removal :) Most of this happens overnight.

Hello! I read a CM's post on a forum that the Matterhorn will go back down mid January to finish the redesigned queue. Have you heard anything about this? I'm hoping they are mistaken, trying to hear from another source. Thanks!

Hi there!

Fantasmic! usually runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights during the off-peak season. Good news, though. You are visiting during a relatively less-crowded time. Holiday time will have started so be sure to catch the Christmas Fantasy Parade, Believe...in Holiday Magic fireworks, and the Wintertime Enchantment of Sleeping Beauty’s castle with snowfall. Also be sure to hop over to take in the view of “it’s a small world" holiday lights.

Keep hopping!

We got lots of pictures with Oswald in 2017 at DCA. He was hanging at the market and store as you enter to the right of the park!

Hi Susie!

You can still catch Oswald hanging out on Buena Vista Street every so often! We would recommend asking a cast member upon arrival, as his schedule can't be found online.

Hi Anthony!

If you are looking for table service restaurants, we like Blue Bayou and Carnation Cafe at DL and Carthay Circle and Lamplight Lounge at DCA. They are pricey, but Blue Bayou, Carthay Circle and Lamplight Lounge offer tasty food and unique atmosphere for a special dining experience. You can view all the menus for any restaurant online or in the Disneyland app in advance. As for quick-service family favorites, we love the Plaza Inn and Jolly Holiday (as well as French Market) at DL and Flo’s V8 or Smokejumpers Grill at DCA. None of them have huge menus, but they have enough choices to satisfy both kids and adults. The Pacific Wharf Cafe (known for its sourdough bread) is another favorite located in an area that also has Asian food and Mexican food restaurants for a wider selection in a food court feel.

Hello, I'm going for my birthday beginning of December. Have you heard yet anything about WOC? Also, I'm 60 days out from my trip on December 7th, but I don't see any fantasmic packages beyond December 2nd? If woc and fantasmic and paint the night are all closed, I'm wondering if going for my birthday is the best choice, since I can only afford every other year. Thank you :)
