Here is the full Disneyland refurbishment schedule so you know exactly what to expect. Permanent closures are attractions that are no longer active in the parks, while refurbishments are temporary closures. Seasonal closures take place annually. All of these refurbishments and closings are subject to change without notice. Don't fret! There is still plenty to do and see at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, even during periods of construction or while rides are under temporary refurbishment.

Do you have any idea why the Sleeping Beauty walk through is closed (I hope that they aren't closing it permanently again) and if there is any chance it or the Grizzly Rapids will open during the month of February? How long do they usually close it when they do?

Hi Scott,

We've added more details above about Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough. Grizzly River Rapids closes this time of year for seasonal refurbishment. In some past years, it has reopened in February and in others it has reopened in March.

Hi! We booked our trip March 3rd-March 6th. I looked for frozen live times and dates, but nothing shows after the end of February. Is that just because it's just too much in advance? Same with their dining experience. No available dates. Also, is Fantasmic showing typically that time of the year? I am just nervous we picked a "in between" time of the year to go. Lastly, any updates on Sleeping Beauty's Castle front refurbishment? THANKS!! :)

Hi Nicole,

Frozen Live is still showing no times for me as well on those dates. It could be that a refurbishment or closure is coming (that is still unannounced), or that times for those dates are not yet available for another reason. Fantasmic! is also being refurbished through early March, so it's not clear if it will be back up during your visit. Finally, Sleeping Beauty Castle's refurbishment is expected to last through the spring. Here's hoping they are all back up in time for your visit.

I've just read another blog that suggests that Indiana Jones is scheduled for refurbishment in 2019. Do you have any information on that front?

You can find what will be closed during your trip in this post ... or everything confirmed so far, that is! "Closed for holiday overlay" means they are either installing or removing the seasonal holiday decor within the ride.

Hi there!

Fantasmic! usually runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights during the off-peak season. Good news, though. You are visiting during a relatively less-crowded time. Holiday time will have started so be sure to catch the Christmas Fantasy Parade, Believe...in Holiday Magic fireworks, and the Wintertime Enchantment of Sleeping Beauty’s castle with snowfall. Also be sure to hop over to take in the view of “it’s a small world" holiday lights.

Hi Anthony!

If you are looking for table service restaurants, we like Blue Bayou and Carnation Cafe at DL and Carthay Circle and Lamplight Lounge at DCA. They are pricey, but Blue Bayou, Carthay Circle and Lamplight Lounge offer tasty food and unique atmosphere for a special dining experience. You can view all the menus for any restaurant online or in the Disneyland app in advance. As for quick-service family favorites, we love the Plaza Inn and Jolly Holiday (as well as French Market) at DL and Flo’s V8 or Smokejumpers Grill at DCA. None of them have huge menus, but they have enough choices to satisfy both kids and adults. The Pacific Wharf Cafe (known for its sourdough bread) is another favorite located in an area that also has Asian food and Mexican food restaurants for a wider selection in a food court feel.

If you're staying at Paradise Pier, they have an area near the swimming pool that overlooks Downtown Disney to Disneyland, giving a good if distant view of the fireworks. However, they also pipe in the soundtrack for it, which adds quite a bit to the experience. A fun extra for that first night you're there if you got in mid-day or later and won't actually be in the Parks until the next day....

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would happen to know why the Matterhorn Bobsleds is being refurbished. I’ve been going to Disneyland since I

might be transferring into a Frozen attraction for its Fantasy Land.” I really hope not. If someone could give more on insight of what there doing or if it’s just a normal refurbishment & if you would happen to know when they would open it back up? Because I know Disneyland hasn’t relased any information regarding the refurbishment. Thank you (:

And we have my 3yo's first Disney trip booked from 9/5-9/11 with his only knowledge being that he's going to Mickey's House. Do you know anything else about that potential closure?

Hi Deborah!

Mickey's House is still showing being down for most of September, likely for refurbishment. We keep this post up to date with the latest confirmed info!

Hi there,

I am visiting Disneyland resort during 9/18-9/21. Other than the Halloween Party, are there any nighttime shows/firework normally scheduled for these days? I heard that there's no firework during off-peak seasons but just want to check it out. Also what about the parades?

Thanks!

Hi Han!

We'll have to wait for the official entertainment schedule to come out before confidently answering your question. However, fireworks and shows (such as Fantasmic and World of Color) still take place on select nights during the off-peak season. Paint the Night usually still takes place nightly.

Hoppy planning!

Hi there!

You can find all scheduled ride closures in this post. It doesn't close too often for refurbishment, and we're not sure if it closes frequently on a day-to-say basis either. Good question!

Matterhorn bobsleds, Tiki Hut (opens sept21), World of Color, Fantasmic – no performances September 10–13 during refurbishment of Sailing Ship Columbia, and September 17-20 during the refurbishment of the Mark Twain Riverboat. That's wht I have found s of 8/13

I will be traveling to Disneyland and DCA from November 1st to November 6th 2018. Will there be any holiday decorations up still or am I going the one week there is nothing? I am mainly concerned about Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion being closed during that week for the decorations take down.

Hi Vanessa,

Haunted Mansion shouldn't close for its holiday overlay removal until January. Jungle Cruise, though, is historically closed early November for its holiday overlay installation. Holiday decorations go up as soon as Holidays at Disneyland Resort officially starts on November 9!

Jingle Cruise is no longer, Disneyland hasn’t officially announced anything, but it wasn’t there last year and it wasn’t announced as part of the line up this year either.

We are planning on staying at the Disneyland Hotel the second week of December 2018. Is there any information available due to construction on accessing Downtown Disney from the Disneyland Hotel.

FrogBlog Says...

Hi there,

The construction has not started on the hotel yet. All the closed restaurants remain intact! There is parking garage construction that is very contained and not affecting traffic or people flow and Katella (street near Disney) has been under construction for months and months so we do recommend avoiding that way, but Downtown Disney is fine. Construction shouldn't affect guest flow from the hotel to Disneyland nor affect guests at Disneyland Hotel! Hope this helps.

We are from South Africa and planning a visit to the parks from Aug 22 - Aug 25. With the comment and schedule on some of the refurb times stating end of August - does this mean Aug 31st? so will we still be able to catch it before refurb?

Thanks

Hi Ayesha,

That section of the refurbishments post is just a guideline of when these attractions are usually closed for their annual refurbishments. If you look under the Disneyland Ride Refurbishments section (towards the top of the post), you'll see the confirmed closure dates for attractions. Hope this helps!

We were planning to be at Disneyland around Nov 4-6. Are most of the rides closed during this time because of removal of Halloween decorations and putting up Christmas decorations? We love Disneyworld but I'm wondering if it's worth visiting Disneyland if there are going to be so many closures. Thanks!

Hi there!

That's a great question. The Haunted Mansion holiday overlay remains up through Christmas, so the only ride with potential to be down for Halloween overlay removal at this time is Space Mountain. We can't be sure when it will be back up and running, but we assure you Disneyland is still worth the visit!

Hello! I'm planning a trip to Disney and California Adventure in September. September 6th and 7th to be exact. I was planning on doing Disneyland on the 6th and California Adventure on the 7th but I want to be able to go on Space Mountain. Would you recommend doing California Adventure on the 6th and Disneyland on the 7th? Thank you!

Absolutely! If Space Mountain is a priority for you, we recommend waiting to visit Disneyland until the 7th when the ride reopens with its Ghost Galaxy overlay.

I was just wondering if you knew that, during the last few years or so, if Disneyland management has intentionally planned to shut ANY ride(s) down for maintenance during the timeframe which is "sandwiched" between "Easter week" and "Memorial Day weekend"??? I have NEVER visited Disneyland BEFORE "Memorial Day weekend" and I am somewhat concerned that, during that "sandwiched time" next year in 2019 (when I will be in California again), Disney management would consider said "sandwiched time" to be a "slow-enough time" to close stuff down (especially since that part of the year might be somewhat "dead" because it should be before the "Star Wars land" opens to the public). But when I looked at your forecasted crowd calendar for next year, it "looks to me" like there would still be "enough" folks in the park for most everything to be "up-and-running"...of course, I'm not the "expert" on this (which is why I reached out to you)...do you have any thoughts on this matter???

FrogBlog Says...

Hi Ron!

This is a great question. Disney certainly makes an effort to schedule refurbishments in "down" times, as crowds are less and therefore lines for other rides aren't impacted as much. We can't predict what will be down for refurbishment during your visit quite yet, but we will update this post as soon as we know for sure!

In our experience, at least one ride is being refurbished at any given time (it's how they keep them safe, clean and fun for us!) so we would expect that, but nothing too extreme.

Thanks for getting back to me. I will wait for your "update" later on as far as any ride(s) that might be shut down. But could you still give me your thoughts on what the overall crowds at Disneyland might be during those "off-weeks" between Easter and Memorial Day (given the pending "Star Wars land" debut)?

Again, I appreciate your response, and I will just be

patient and wait a few more months (or so) until

you update the information...

Based on what you have shared with me so far, it

sounds like most everything should be "good-to-

go" and that it will probably be a fairly "decent"

time in the park...
