My husband and I were at Disneyland March 5&6. On the 6th the park closed 4 hours early! I checked schedules everywhere when planning and couldn’t find a page that showed early closure dates. Is there such a page so I can avoid those dates next time I go? I felt bad we had to leave so early that night- and pay full price

Hey!

My family will be spending at week at Disneyland the week of the 19th. It's a little early to tell, but we are preparing for it to rain during our stay. Curious if they close any rides or attractions during the rain? We have no plans on the weather stopping this vacation!

Hi Jimmy!

Any outdoor attractions, such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Splash Mountain, will close during a storm. But don't worry - the rain is usually brief and they promptly reopen attractions! And there is plenty to do during the rain as well. :)

What time are the parades usually? I am looking at the schedules for events and parades are not listed. Do they still have parades with the classic character or only the Pixar one to start later in the Spring?

Hi Dimitrios,

Right now, there are currently no parades taking place at Disneyland until Pixar Play Parade begins on April 13! Paint the Night Parade will be returning at Disney California Adventure Park on April 13. It depends on the parade on what time it will start. Paint the Night Parade is a nighttime parade, so it will start in the evening. We aren't exactly sure of what time the parades will start, though, so keep an eye out!

Hi! I am showing on the Disneyland site that based on the calendar search for ride closures, that Matterhorn will be closed starting April 16th. Do you know anything about this and how long it usually stays down? Also, if they are opening Pixar Pier mid April, will most of the stuff still be closed until late June? Any update on when the Incredicoaster will be open?

Hi Valarie!

Pixar Fest will begin in April, but Pixar Pier will not be fully opening (including Incredicoaster) until June. No worries about the Matterhorn - there are no upcoming closures. The Disneyland site just only displays operating hours for the next six weeks at a time!

We're going March 11-15. Was originally planning to do DCA on Mon and Wed, and DL on Tues and Thurs. But with all the DCA closures, I wonder if we even need 2 days. Would it be better to do 3 days at DL, and only 1 day at DCA with all these refurbishments?

We've never seen Mickey & the Magical Map, and I see it's only available on Mondays. But to do that and only have 2 days in DL, we'd have to give up our Blue Bayou reservations on Tues. (Not going to give up the Plaza Inn Minnie breakfast on Thurs.)

Our Minnie breakfast reservation is at 7:30, which would make it difficult to do a Magic Morning that same day and really take advantage of it. But it all works out if we do DL on Mon, Tues, and Thurs, and only DCA on Wed? Is that a good idea or bad idea?

Would you recommend maybe going in June or do you think that it would be up and running by then? Thank you so much for your help

Hi Pam!

Woah, that would be huge news! We haven't heard anything about this, even through the rumor mill. As one of the original attractions, we doubt this will happen, but we'll keep you posted if anything changes.

Hi! My brother and I will be making our very first trip to Disneyland this year! We’ve been to Disney World more times than I can count, and Haunted Mansion is my all time fav, while Space Mountain is my brother’s. Go figure, our trip has ended up being from August 26th until September 6th. You know, right around when both apparently go down for some seasonal overlays in California, wicked awesome!????Soooo...anybody remember the EXACT timeframes of the closures the last few years? Think we got a shot at either, whether it’s before or after? Fingers crossed?

Hi Kara,

Oh, no! We don't have any specifics on when the rides closed in the past, and we hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is very little chance you'll be able to experience either of these attractions. They both close for about 3 weeks at the end of August. Keep an eye out on this post for details closer to your trip! We'll cross our fingers for you.

We are making the trip from the East coast to experience Disneyland (We've dive Disney World a few times) the last week of February. I'm getting nervous that between construction and refurbishments and whatever else, nothing fun will be open for my 12 and 10 year old girls ????????????.

Hi Lex!

No worries. We know it seems like a LOT is under construction right now, but there is so much to do at Disneyland. Your 10 and 12 year-old girls will have an absolute blast throughout both parks. There are still plenty of attractions open to keep you more than busy ... and you'll have a great time, too!

Hello!

Thank you for your website! It's a fantastic resource that I refer to all the time.

I wanted to see if there was a general update on the walls at Disneyland (particularly on town square/mainstreet). I know that there are a lot construction projects at disneyland. However, is there an estimated time of when those walls will come down on mainstreet/town square? Thanks for your time!

Hi Luke!

We're so hoppy to hear you enjoy our site ... we're glad we can help! Disneyland hasn't announced any specifics on when the walls will come down on Main Street and the Town Square area. The most we've heard is that the project will be completed in the spring ... hopefully sooner rather than later!

Is Ariel’s undersea adventure closed for any reason right now? I noticed on the Disneyland app it’s closed today. We are going in two weeks and I’m praying it’s open for my girls!

Do you happen to know if there will be another location for a princess breakfast/lunch since Ariel’s grotto is closed? We are coming in April and this is what my girls were most looking forward to!!!

Hi Kate!

That's a great question. We haven't heard quite yet if Ariel's Grotto will return, or if a new location will debut. Unfortunately, with the current timeline of refurbishments, we doubt a princess meal will be available in time for your April visit.

Hi Jess!

Fireworks and parades are on somewhat of a hold right now at Disneyland due to refurbishments taking place. However, Fantasmic (our favorite!) will be taking place twice nightly.

Hi Jessica!

With Splash Mountain having closed for refurbishment in early January, our guess is that it will be back up-and-running in time for your March spring break trip ... but that is not confirmed! (We'll update this post as we get more definite info.)

As for California Screamin', we don't anticipate those updates to be completed until April at the soonest. Again, we'll let you know if anything changes, and promise you'll have a great trip regardless!

Do you know if any parades are currently running at Disneyland or Disney California Adventure? I don't see them listed on the Disneyland App. We are going in March and we are hoping to see the Pixar Parade and Mickey's Soundsational Parade that they normally always have.

Hi Lindy,

Unfortunately, no parades are running right now due to construction on Main Street. The Pixar Parade is looking to make its return in April.

Currently have a DL trip scheduled April 25 - April 30. It seems likely Incredicoaster won't be open yet but any educated predictions for Mickey's Fun Wheel or World of Color? Also, any rumors as to when Pirates will go down for the scene change?

Thanks. One of the pages on the Adventures by Disney site is indicating that World of Color will be closed for refurb in late April and early May which, if true, would be disappointing. I have contacted DLR to see if they will confirm. Waiting for a response.
