As you get ready to plan your Disneyland trip, it's helpful to know which rides and experiences may be closed or undergoing refurbishment during your visit. Here is the full Disneyland refurbishment schedule and permanent ride closings. Permanent closures are attractions that are no longer active in the parks, refurbishments are temporary closures and seasonal closures take place annually. All of these refurbishments and closings are subject to change without notice. Don't fret! There is still plenty to do and see at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.

I am also planning a trip end of Jan, early Feb. I think it's ridiculous that Disney doesn't release the schedule sooner. Guaranteed they already know the schedule and have known for months if not longer. It makes it so hard to plan a trip. I can't book hotel reservations until I've 100% confirmed the schedule. Pirates is the one ride that is my deal breaker. If it's not running, I don't go, no exceptions.

Disney needs to open a new report/park near Leggoland. There are too many people coming up from south of Orange County to attend the park. Our family has pretty much given up on Disneyland. It's always too crowded. We refuse to pay $100's to stand in long lines, behind obese, tatted-up, trashers. Used to be a nice park, but now the LCDs have lowered the culture. Things are sooo expensive in CA. I just don't understand how people can afford maintaining a lifestyle of getting both child-art tats and going to Disneyland?! Must be my supportive tax dollars at work.

I am fairly certain that most and/or all attractions at Disneyland should be "up and running" during Presidents Day Weekend, as well as during the following week...I also am fairly certain that most and/or all attractions at Disneyland should be "up and running" during Spring Break Season...What I am not certain about is whether most and/or all attractions should be "up and running" during the week-or-so that is "sandwiched" in-between those 2 VERY busy times...My guess is probably they are, since there is not very much time to completely shut things down to do "proper" repairs, but then again, I have not been to Disneyland at that time of the year in AGES and it seems as if the park management has made MANY changes to the way they handle refurbishments...if anybody can shed some light on this issue for me, please reply!!!

Hi Becky,

Disney has not posted a day for Matterhorn's re-opening, so we can't give an estimate. As for Golden Zephyr, we don't see that on any refurbishment schedule. If you post a link to the spot where you read that we can do some research.

Thanks so much for getting back to us. We have been tracking wait times for Disneyland and California adventure - mostly because we are excited for our family vacation next week - and just noticed golden zephyr always seemed closed. It's one of our favorites because everyone likes it (with six kids that can be hard to do sometimes). We are really going Matterhorn will only be closed for a few days since we go the 9-11, but I don't know how good our odds are with that. Oh well, you win some and lose some. Thanks again!

I'm going to Disneyland in April and one of my favorite attractions is It's Tough to be a Bug. Sadly, I haven't been able to experience it in years because every time I go, Disney is doing a commercial in that theater for their next big movie. Is there any way to know if it'll FINALLY be open when I'm there in April. I've been wanting to experience it again for such a long time! It's bad enough that my other favorite attraction, Tower of Terror is gone forever :(

...I'll chime in to say you'll love it as much and a little more with a few tweaks they've made since we saw it last! : )

Hi Peter,

You MAY be in luck. The Beauty and the Beast Disney Parks preview will be held at the Muppet Theater at Disney California Adventure instead of It's Tough To Be A Bug!

I'm planning on going the week of August 21st. Will haunted mansion be closed to start getting ready for the holidays? This is a ride my kids loves and if it will be closed I'll change the date. The site just says late August. Does that mean the last 2 weeks or just the last week?

Hi Leah,

Late August could mean anytime during the last two weeks of August, so it's possible that you could visit and Haunted Mansion would be down. We won't know exact days for many months.

Heading SoCal at the end of February. Disappointed to see Pirates is closed for February. Our dates are not yet available on the DL website so I don't know if Pirates will reopen in time for our visit. Anybody know the typical length of time for the annual refurb of Pirates? Is there a typical refurb time? I have seen it closed for only 2 weeks before, but longer other times. I am just being optimistic. Thanks.

Hi Brady,

There really is no typical refurb time for any Disney attraction. It depends on what part of the attraction they are working on, and how long those refurbishments could take.

Planning a trip from across the country to LA and visiting Disneyland January 12th. The season closure for the haunted mansion says the beginning of January but does not state when it might open again. Also the it's a small world and splash mountain say closing mid January. Does anyone know if I can expect any of these to be open on January 12th?

Hi Tori!

Based on Disneyland's website, it seems the Haunted Mansion will be closed Jan. 9-19 for the holiday overlay removal. "it's a small world" looks like it will be closed Jan. 22-Feb. 2. These dates could possibly change. We'll update as soon as we know!

The seasonal closures section of our refurbishments post consists of estimates based on past closures, so these aren't 100% certain. Always check back!

Hi there,

I was planning a trip in the begging of February 2017 but it looks according to the disneyland website that several of our favorites are closed for refurbishment, including pirates of the carribean. I was wondering where you are able to see when those are scheduled to reopen as I couldn't find that information on the disneyland site. Thanks in advance.

Hi Emily,

The Disneyland website will have the most up-to-date information about refurbishment timelines. Those refurbishments are always scheduled to change without notice, and a re-opening date isn't always known until a few days before re-opening!

Hi Robyn,

We don't have any word on attraction closures (except for those already listed on this post) for that time period, but keep an eye out! We'll report them as soon as we know. The parks will definitely be open, though!

Hi Eastyn,

No official word yet on Pirates. But we'll report it as soon as we know! Rides with holiday overlays (Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, it's a small world) close during January for the overlay removal, but they'll probably be back open in time for your visit. As soon as we get the dates, we'll update this post!

Keep hopping!
