For the DIY Our First Snow Wood Ornament, you'll need:
- Wood slice (about 4” in diameter) - can be purchased from craft stores
- Our First Snow printable template
- Sharpie paint pen - metallic (fine point)
- Black chalkboard paint
- Ribbon
- Chalk
- Paintbrush
- Ballpoint pen
- Paper towel (damp)
- Drill
- Optional: An additional sharpie paint pen – extra fine point for details!
First, print and cut out the ornament template. Hop here to print the DIY Our First Snow Wood Ornament template. Drill a hole in the wood slice for the ribbon. Brush chalkboard paint around the inside of the slice. Let it dry completely! Be careful to not rush the drying process — it could ruin your paint pen.
While you’re waiting for the paint to dry, work on preparing the template for transfer. Place the template face down and cover the back of it with chalk.
Transfer the template to the wood slice slightly above the center and just below the hole. Use a fine ballpoint pen to trace the words (multiple times works best).
Remove the template and trace the words and details with a metallic paint pen. If you’d like more detail, the very fine point pen comes in handy when working on the stars. Add the year for an added touch!
Lightly brush away excess chalk with a damp paper towel.
Measure and cut about 12” of your chosen ribbon. String ribbon through the hole and tie a bow.
Ta-Da! The finished DIY Our First Snow Wood Ornament and perfect memento for your tree.
