One of the highlights of the holiday season at Disney World is Holidays Around the World and the Candlelight Processional at Epcot. Why do we love them so much? For us, these two events really celebrate the spirit of the season and show us how we're all connected in this great big world. It fills us with warmth and joy. Want to know what else we love about Holidays Around the World and the Candlelight Processional?
The park itself is decorated beautifully for the holidays, and throughout World Showcase, you'll find the many countries decorated with wreaths, garland and poinsettias -- everything perfectly suited to each particular country.
Tad especially loves learning how other countries celebrate Christmas and other holidays. In each of the countries, performers share their time-honered holiday traditions such as Los Tres Reyes Magos (the Three Wise Men) in Mexico, the kind-hearted witch La Befana in Italy, the story of the Daruma doll and New Year customs in Japan.
There are tons of places to meet the man in red at the Orlando theme parks, we think there is not a more fitting setting to meet Santa (and Mrs. Claus) than the American Adventure Pavillion. Because lines get very long, we make this our first stop in World Showcase before we visit Father Christmas in the U.K. and Père Noël in France.
The Sounds of the Season
Across the park, the sounds of the season fill the air -- from the R&B Group D’Vine Voices to the Canadian Holiday Voyaguers and the Voices of Liberty - Dickens Carolers. And, of course, the real showstopper is the Candlelight Processional with its enormous choir backed by a 50-piece orchestra.
The Story of Christmas
There is nothing more important to us than family, and for us, we're reminded of this most when we're together and listening to the story of Christmas at the Candlelight Processional. While the show takes place three times each night through Dec. 30, it does fill up quickly and we do recommend Disney's Candlelight Dinner Packages, which offer guaranteed seating for the processional along with IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.
Of course, one of the best things about Holidays Around the World & Candlelight Processional is that they are included with regular admission to Epcot. As we draw closer to Christmas, we wanted to share some of the reasons why we love Epcot's Holidays Around the World & Candlelight Processional. We would love to hear from you about why you love it too! Share in comments below.
Happy holidays around the world!
