All About the Foo Fighters and Their 2023 Tour
Initially formed as a one-man project by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, the Foo Fighters have been a staple in the alternative rock and post-grunge world since their first single, "This Is a Call," released in 1995. Over the band's career, they've won 35 music awards, including an American Music Award for Favorite Alternative Artist, MTV Video Music Awards for Best Rock Video and Global Icon and Grammy Awards for Best Rock Song three times over and Best Rock Album five times over.
During their concert, you'll hear hits such as "Learn to Fly," which won a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video; "The Pretender," which won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance; "My Hero," which reached number six on the US Billboard Alternative Songs chart and was ranked by American Songwriter as the greatest Foo Fighters song; and "Best of You," which won a Kerrang! Award for Best Single. Not to mention you'll hear the live debuts over "Nothing At All," "But Here We Are," "Under You" and "Rescued" — which gave the band their 29th top 10 hit on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart. The band announced in May that Orlando-native Josh Freese will be their new full-time drummer.
2023 Foo Fighters Tour Opening Acts
American alternative rock band The Breeders will serve as the Foo Fighters' opening act for the remaining United States shows on their comeback tour. Former Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain cited The Breeders' debut album, "Pod," as one of his all-time favorite albums. Their most commercially successful album, "Last Splash," went on to be certified platinum by the RIAA. In 2021, the band released their first new recording in over three years and in 2023, they performed at the 22nd Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Overseas, bands such as The Chats, Wet Leg and Hot Milk will be joining the tour as opening acts.
