Rockets Team Overview
Originally founded in 1967 as the San Diego Rockets, the Rockets moved to Houston in 1971 and have resided there ever since. The Houston Rockets play their home games at Toyota Center in Houston, TX, sporting red, black and silver team colors.
The Rockets have had several division titles over the years, most recently in 2020. They had great success in the '90s, winning back-to-back conferences and NBA Championships in 1994 and 1995. They are one of the few teams to reach the NBA finals after a losing record in the regular season. Well-known players include Hakeem Olajuwon, Moses Malone, Elvin Hayes, Charles Barkley and most recently James Harden.
Last season, the Rockets went 22-60, finishing fourth in their division. They did not qualify for the playoffs. Heading into the 2023-24 season, head coach Ime Udoka, in his first year leading the Rockets, looks towards players like point guard Fred VanVleet, guard Jalen Green and power forward Jabari Smith Jr. to secure victory.
