Overview of the Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers compete in the NBA as a member of the Central Division of the Eastern Conference. The team was an original member American Basketball Association (ABA) in 1967 before joining the NBA in 1976. The team gets its name from Indiana's long history with the Indianapolis 500's pace cars and the harness racing industry.

The Pacers play home games at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN. The venue is a popular spot to see concerts and other shows in the area. Plus, it is one of the places where March Madness basketball history is made. Before or after the game, enjoy the new Bicentennial Plaza public space with its own basketball court (and ice rink in the winter).

The Pacers won three championships in the ABA and also reached the ABA Finals in 1969 and 1975. The Pacers were NBA Eastern Conference Champions in 2000, and the team has won nine division titles in total. The legendary Reggie Miller, Chris Mullin, Alex English, Mel Daniels, Roger Brown, George McGinnis, Adrian Dantley, Gus Johnson and Tim Hardaway all played for the Pacers. The Pacers' great teamwork makes them fun to watch. With a younger roster this year, fans are sure to catch high-energy plays on the court.

The Pacers' biggest rivalries are with the Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks and Miami Heat.
