I try not to complain, but my gosh…IT’S HOT OUT THERE! Here’s a guide to the best ways to cool off at the Disney parks.
Baby Care Center – Magic Kingdom’s Baby Care Center is located right around the corner from Casey’s Corner and The Crystal Palace. There’s a covered area with benches outside for the non-babies among us.
Tomorrowland Transit Authority – It’s technically an attraction, but you can just keep getting back on it with little to no wait, so I treat it as a “cool spot.”
Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café & The Lunching Pad – Even if you’re not having lunch, these are nice places to rest your legs in the shade or inside in the air-conditioning. (Be sure to give up your seat if you aren’t eating and others are waiting, though.)
Baby Care Center – Epcot’s Baby Care Center Center is located in the Odyssey Center which is between Future World and World Showcase.
Behind United Kingdom – This is one of my favorite spots in Epcot. There’s a fun maze made of boxwood hedges.
The Land Pavilion & The Mexico Pavilion – Both of these are air-conditioned with restaurants and attractions.
The Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion – Step inside this air-conditioned undersea adventure for a break from the heat, but best of all, the Caribbean Coral Reef Aquarium.
Baby Care Center – Hollywood Studios’ Baby Care Center is to the left behind the park entrance.
Shops along Sunset Boulevard – Even if you aren’t in the market for new Disney merchandise, the shops are guaranteed to be air-conditioned. (Wonder why?)
Studio Catering Co. – It has one of the few covered areas in the entire park.
Baby Care Center – Animal Kingdom’s Baby Care Center is located near Creature Comforts gift shop and Pizzafari.
Conservation Station – While one of our parents stays with me and Lily at the the Affection Section, the other one steps inside Conservation Station to cool off.
Wet Rides & Water Spouts
In the mood for a light mist? Or how about a complete soaking? Here’s a list of places to find both.
Splash Mountain – You’re going to get wet no matter what, but for the ultimate soaking, sit in the front or on the right side of the log.
Spitting Camel at Magic Carpets of Aladdin – You can finally cross being spit on by a camel off your bucket list.
Tiki Statues – Next to the entrance of Jungle Cruise is a great little spot to play in the water.
Maelstrom – It’s not considered a wet ride, but you might get a little wet if you’re sitting toward the front.
Kim Possible Sign-up Location – On the walkway between Future World and World Showcase, in front of the sign-up location, you can get a little or a lot wet.
Jumping Fountains – Located outside the Imagination Pavilion, these fountains are great for a smile and a rinse.
Giant Coke Bottle – The giant Coke bottle outside Studio Backlot Tour will gladly spurt water at you.
Studio Backlot Tour – If you stand on the first level during the first segment (the Harbor Attack scene) you’ll get a little wet. If you’re sitting on the left side of the tram during the last segment, you might get misted in front of Catastrophe Canyon.
Kali River Rapids – YOU…WILL…GET…SOAKED!!!
Indoors & Undercover
Here’s a list of my favorite shows & attractions in each park that work well for a cooling off period.
Keep an eye out for the next installment of this “cool” 2-part series...
