For the first time in its history, the Magic Kingdom® Park will offer beer and wine when the Be Our Guest Restaurant opens in Fantasyland® Area this fall.
The French-inspired menu based on “Beauty and the Beast” is offering an upscale table-service experience for dinner. To accompany it, select wines and beers will be offered for dinner. Lunch will be quick service (but served on china!) and remains alcohol free. (Here are the lunch and dinner menus.)
Says Stuart McGuire, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Beverage Director on the Disney Parks Blog:
"As part of the overall theming, we wanted to offer wine that enhances the guest experience and complements the French-inspired cuisine. The wines focus primarily on France’s famous wine-growing regions, including Champagne, Alsace, Loire, Rhone, Burgundy and Bordeaux."
"We'll also offer the leading French beer, Kronenbourg 1664. And, staying in the general region, we'll also offer Belgian beers."
The Orlando Sentinel explains the reason behind the decision:
The reason for the change was guest feedback, which indicated visitors wanted the option of wine and beer with the "gourmet experience," said Maribeth Bisienere, vice president of food and beverage for Walt Disney Parks.
The restaurant will open November 19 with a grand opening December 6. While alcohol is served elsewhere at Walt Disney World, the decision to offer alcohol in Magic Kingdom® Park is still controversial.
