2024 MLS Schedule — Highlights
The 2024 MLS season is set to be one of the most competitive yet, with a jam-packed schedule of 34 regular-season games for each team. The regular season kicks off Feb. 21, with eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi joining reigning Leagues Cup champion, Inter Miami CF, in an exhilarating standalone match against Real Salt Lake at DRV PNK Stadium.
Throughout the season, each team will play 17 home games and 17 away games, ensuring a balanced and challenging schedule. The highly anticipated Decision Day, scheduled for Oct. 19, will feature simultaneous intra-conference matches, adding a dramatic flair to the regular season's end.
MLS Rivalry Week 2024, scheduled from May 11 to 18, is set to feature fierce matchups. On May 11, the Columbus Crew goes head to head with FC Cincinnati, followed by a match between the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders FC on May 12. A few days later, on May 15, Orlando City SC faces Inter Miami CF in what is sure to be a riveting game. On May 18, this week-long celebration of soccer rivalries concludes with a match between Toronto FC and CF Montréal.
In the summer, there is plenty of action happening on the field! The excitement begins on the Fourth of July, giving fans a chance to celebrate Independence Day at the iconic El Tráfico derby — where LA Galaxy and LAFC battle it out for victory. This marquee matchup will once again grace the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. The rivalry between these two Los Angeles-based clubs is renowned for its intensity, passion and unwavering fan support, making it a must-watch event!
A rematch of the 2023 MLS Cup presented by Audi takes place July 13, as the Columbus Crew plays LAFC at BMO Stadium. This momentous clash between the reigning champions and their valiant challengers is sure to rekindle the fiery nature of last year's championship showdown.
The MLS All-Star Game, presented by Target, will take center stage in Columbus, OH, at the state-of-the-art Lower.com Field. On July 24, 2024, this showcase event brings together the most talented players in the league for a thrilling mid-season spectacle.
Around the same time, the Leagues Cup, a World Cup-style club competition featuring all LIGA MX and MLS teams, returns for its 2024 edition with a month-long pause in domestic play. The tournament begins July 26 and concludes with a final, Aug. 25. The official Concacaf tournament awards three 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup berths — determined by the Leagues Cup champion qualifying directly to Round 16.
The playoff race will be intense as nine teams from each conference fight for the coveted MLS Cup! On Dec. 7, the season culminates in an epic MLS Cup Final. Because the playoffs are constructed by seeding based on teams’ performances in the regular season, the final will be hosted by the highest remaining seed team participating in the match.
