Hi there! Welcome to our weekly roundup of the most interesting theme park news around the Walt Disney World Resort, the Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando and other theme parks.
Here Are This Week's Theme Park Highlights:
- Get ready for more hugs and stuffed bellies! More Disney World character dining options will be returning this fall — including 'Ohana Best Friends Breakfast at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Minnie's Beach Bash Breakfast at Disney's Beach Club Resort and The Crystal Palace: A Buffet with Characters featuring Winnie the Pooh and Friends. You'll be able to join the Hundred Acre Wood gang for lunch and dinner, starting Sept. 20, the mischievous Stitch for breakfast, as of Sept. 27, and Minnie and her friends for breakfast at Cape May Cafe, beginning Oct. 4. Hooray for more character dining (Lily's extra excited to hug her favorite alien again)!
- It's Christmas in July, and we're celebrating because Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party tickets are now on sale! If you want to put away some extra Christmas present money, you can save some green by purchasing discounted party tickets through us frogs!
- Two years ago, we learned that Princess Tiana would be taking over Splash Mountain at both Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland Park. We finally have more details about the retheming, which will transform the water ride into Tiana's Bayou Adventure. The new attraction is expected to open in late 2024, and a closing date for the current version of Splash Mountain has not been scheduled just yet.
- Also coming to both coasts is an all-new dance party event, ZOM-BEATZ BASH. The experience will feature music from "ZOMBIES" and "ZOMBIES 2," and celebrate the premiere of "ZOMBIES 3." The bash will take place in Downtown Disney on July 29-31 and in Disney Springs on Aug. 5-14.
- On the same day as the July 22 release of the upcoming horror film, "Nope," the Universal Studio Tour will debut a brand-new attraction based on Jupiter's Claim, the film's fictional theme park setting, at Universal Studios Hollywood. The permanent set will feature original props and details from the film's Gold Rush-themed park, which is a pivotal location for mysterious, unexplainable phenomena.
- In other horror-filled news, the Witch of the Woods will return for revenge at Howl-O-Scream in Busch Gardens Tampa this fall! Guests will once again go deep into the dark forest, where the witch awaits her victims. Witch of the Woods, which is the first haunted house announced for this year's event, originally debuted in 2021. Howl-O-Scream will run on select nights from Sept. 9 through Oct. 31, 2022.
