The end of the College Football Season is officially upon us. With the conference championships being decided, all eyes will look to the College Football Playoff Selection Committee for their decisions on the final rankings. Considering this season's expansion of the playoffs from four teams to 12, and because of the NCAA Football regular season's ups and downs, the end of this season is sure to be filled with some drama. Highlights of College Football Bowl Games
Over the years, the number of bowl games has increased and there are now 43 games in the college bowl game schedule. While it is an achievement to make any bowl game, due to the expansion of the College Football Playoff, six of these bowl games have National Championship implications. If your team wants to make it to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, held on Jan. 20, 2025, they will need to win one, maybe two of these games. Let's break down the six bowl games included in the playoffs:
Rose Bowl

The oldest and most well-known bowl game, the Rose Bowl has been a New Year's Day tradition for over a century. Held in Pasadena, CA, each team is also featured in the historic Rose Parade. This year, the Rose Bowl serves as one of the quarter-finals for the playoffs. You won't want to miss the Rose Bowl Jan. 1, 2025, at 5 p.m. ET.
Sugar Bowl
Tied as the second-oldest bowl game, the Sugar Bowl has been kicking off for nearly 90 years. Held in New Orleans, it will also host one of the playoff quarter-finals for the 2024-25 season. The Sugar Bowl will be held Jan. 1, 2025, at 8:45 p.m. ET.
Orange Bowl
Also tied as the second-oldest bowl game is the Orange Bowl. Held in Miami, the Orange Bowl serves as a semi-final game for the playoffs. It will host one of the top 4 seeded teams as well as one of the winners of the quarter-finals. This year, the Orange Bowl will be on Jan. 9, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Cotton Bowl
Founded in 1937, the Cotton Bowl has also been a namesake in college football for generations. Held in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the bowl game also serves as a semi-final game. The Cotton Bowl will be held Jan. 10, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Peach Bowl
Held in Atlanta, Georgia, the Peach Bowl has run since 1968. It is actually played in the same stadium that the National Championship Game will played in this year. It is a quarter-final game for the playoffs this year. The Peach Bowl will play Jan. 1, 2025, at 1 p.m. ET.
Fiesta Bowl
Held in Glendale, Arizona, the Fiesta Bowl was founded in 1971. The Fiesta Bowl is one of the quarter-final games. This is the only game of the playoffs that is being played in 2024. The game will be played on Dec. 31, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
