2023-2024 NHL Schedule — Overview
The 2023-2024 NHL season is just around the corner and fans of hockey are already eagerly awaiting the action to start. Over the course of 21 weeks, all 32 league teams will battle it out to win the coveted Stanley Cup trophy! On Oct. 10, 2023, a triple header will kick off a thrilling season of 1,312 games, lasting until April 18, 2024. The league's regular season is divided into two conferences — the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference — with each conference containing two divisions: the Atlantic Division and Metropolitan Division in the East and Central Division and Pacific Division in the West.
Every team in each division will play 82 matches throughout the season — 26 games against teams in their division, 24 against teams in the other division of their conference and 32 games against teams in the opposing conference. In addition to regular games, fans can also look forward to some exciting seasonal games and events throughout the season. The regular season kicks off Oct. 10 with a special match between the Vegas Golden Knights — 2022 Stanley Cup championship winners — and the Seattle Kraken at T-Mobile Arena. What a promising start to this eventful, upcoming season!
On Oct. 29, the 2023 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic will start off the season in style, as it celebrates the 20th anniversary of the first NHL regular-season outdoor game. In this game, the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames play outdoors at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton for what is sure to be an unforgettable match-up. The Heritage Classic is played infrequently, as this will be the seventh in history.
As a way to celebrate the holidays, hockey fans can look forward to the 2024 NHL Winter Classic on New Year's Day. This annual event will feature a fierce battle between the two youngest NHL teams — Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights — at T-Mobile Park, home of MLB's Seattle Mariners. The following month, from Feb. 1-4, Toronto will host NHL All-Star Weekend at Scotiabank Arena, which will include the 2024 NHL All-Star Skills and All-Star Game.
The last highlight of this season is sure to be another memorable one as four teams — Philadelphia Flyers, New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers and New York Islanders — compete in two games for the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series from Feb. 17-18 at MetLife Stadium.
